Klim

Berlin, Germany

(Senior) Certification Specialist (all genders).

FULL TIMEREMOTESENIOR LEVELPRODUCT

At Klim, we work with farmers and businesses to make regenerative agriculture a scalable and economically viable part of the food system. As a German AgriTech company, we empower farmers in improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and capturing carbon, while generating reliable income through our platform.

Backed by €22 million in Series A funding, we are scaling our impact internationally and partnering with clients from the food and non-food industry. Since 2020, we have worked with more than 4,000 farmers across 900,000 hectares, covering more than 5% of Germany’s agricultural land.

If you are motivated by building a more sustainable food system and contributing to measurable climate impact, Klim offers the opportunity to do so at scale.

Klim is hiring a Senior Certification Specialist to own the validation and verification of our Agricultural Land Management (ALM) projects end to end, making sure every credit we issue stands up to the most rigorous international standards. This is a senior individual contributor role, sitting at the intersection of technical accuracy and operational impact, and reporting into Klim's Certification Manager.

Your mission:

As Senior Certification Specialist, you will run the day-to-day execution of Klim's certification cycles, ensuring full compliance with international GHG accounting and carbon crediting standards. You will collaborate across teams to deliver transparent, high-quality certification processes that underpin Klim's mission of advancing regenerative agriculture and climate action.

You will be the operational backbone of certification at Klim, working closely with the Certification Manager, product, partnerships, and commercial teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Process ownership: Own the delivery of certification for our projects across internal and external stakeholder groups

  • Project Design Documentation & Reporting: Author and coordinate the development of Project Design Documents (PDDs) and GHG monitoring reports, ensuring methodological rigour and alignment with applicable standards and registry requirements.

  • Validation & Verification Management: Lead the coordination of external validation of PDDs and verification of GHG Reports with accredited auditing bodies, managing timelines, evidence packages, and auditor queries to keep certification cycles on track.

  • Certification Decision Processes: Streamline and continuously improve internal certification workflows, from initial documentation through final credit issuance, to reduce cycle times and increase process reliability.

  • Cross-Functional Methodology Support: Act as the go-to on project methodology topics for the commercial, partnerships, and product teams, translating complex certification requirements into actionable guidance that supports sales, marketing, and stakeholder communications.

  • Standards & Compliance Monitoring: Stay current with evolving carbon market standards, registry rules, and regulatory developments (e.g. ISO 14064, Verra VCS, LSRS, EU frameworks) and proactively adapt Klim's certification approach accordingly.

  • Stakeholder & Auditor Relations: Maintain productive relationships with validation and verification bodies, registry representatives, and external technical reviewers to facilitate smooth audit processes.

Your profile:

  • You have a degree in environmental science, agronomy, climate policy, or a related field.

  • You have demonstrated experience in GHG project certification, carbon credit validation/verification, or climate-related auditing.

  • You have strong working knowledge of international carbon standards and methodologies (ISO 14064, Verra VCS, EU CRCF, or equivalent)

  • You have experience writing or reviewing PDDs and monitoring reports.

  • You have excellent project management skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • You have clear, precise written and verbal communication in English. German is a plus.

  • You are genuinely interested in regenerative agriculture, soil carbon, and climate action.

Your benefits:

  • Opportunity: Be part of our journey from the very beginning, working on an equal footing with the leadership team to build a new company.

  • Impact: Make a daily and active contribution to combating climate change, promoting consumer education, and fostering fair conditions for our climate-conscious farmers.

  • Autonomy: Take ownership of your projects and enjoy a high degree of creative freedom.

  • Flexible work model: At Klim, we foster a flexible, hybrid work approach and facilitate remote work (within the EU). It is advantageous for this role if you live in Berlin or can be present in our office regularly.

  • Additional benefits : for Germany Based employees, we offer membership in the Urban Sports Club or subsidisation of the Deutschlandticket and a company pension scheme, plus team lunches and regular team events.

At Klim, we believe that a thriving workplace is built on the diverse backgrounds, talents, and perspectives of our team. We grow stronger together by embracing and building on each individual’s unique strengths.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. All hiring and personnel decisions are made solely based on qualifications, performance, and the needs of the company - ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all.

If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. You might be the perfect fit for our team in ways you don’t yet realise!
