Is this a commission-based role?
Yes. Your earnings are linked to your results. You can earn from the deals you close, plus recurring residual income from the merchants you activate. The exact earning model may vary by market, and your recruiter will walk you through the details during the process.
How do I earn money at SumUp?
You earn by selling SumUp products to small business owners. This can include hardware, software, and monthly revenue from the businesses you bring in. If you sell more products from the SumUp ecosystem, such as our point-of-sale solutions, you can create even more earning opportunities. We’ll explain the full model during recruitment and train you on how to make the most of it.
Do I need sales experience?
Sales experience is strongly preferred, especially in field sales, door-to-door sales, cold calling, outbound sales, or direct customer acquisition. If you’re confident starting conversations, comfortable approaching new prospects, and motivated by performance-based earnings, this could be a strong fit.
What does a typical day look like?
You’ll spend most of your time in your local area, speaking with small business owners, identifying opportunities, following up with prospects, and helping business owners choose the right SumUp tools for their needs. Will I get training?
Yes. You’ll start with interactive onboarding led by a dedicated Field Sales Trainer, covering our products, sales approach, and how to sell in a compliant way. After that, you’ll meet your Territory Manager locally for a final sign-off before you start selling. You’ll also continue to have access to sales tools, product training, and support to help you keep improving.
Will I receive leads, or do I build my own pipeline?
You’ll build your own pipeline by approaching merchants, creating opportunities, and following up consistently. We’ll give you tools, training, and support, but your success comes from the action you take and the relationships you build.
Do I need to live near the area I apply for?
Ideally, yes. Being close to your territory helps you understand the local market, build relationships faster, and spend more time with the merchants you want to reach.
Will I be working alone?
You’ll have a lot of independence, but you won’t be on your own. Your Territory Manager will support you, and you’ll also have opportunities to connect with other Field Sales Consultants through local meet-ups, team selling days, virtual catch-ups, and internal communication channels.
What kind of products will I sell?
You’ll introduce merchants to SumUp products that help them take payments, sell online, manage orders, access their money, and run their business more easily.
Who is this role best suited for?
This role is a strong fit for people who are self-motivated, resilient, commercially driven, and comfortable working independently. You’ll do well if you can handle rejection, stay consistent, and take ownership of your results.
