Who We Are:

At Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ), our mission is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and unlock new possibilities for our children, families, and communities. As the Pre-Kindergarten school within HCZ’s cradle-to-career pathway, Harlem Gems prepares our youngest scholars to succeed by delivering exceptional education and building a strong academic foundation – empowering young minds, inspiring potential, and creating lasting change. • Conduct classroom observations to identify scholars who may need additional support.
    • Take detailed notes and share findings with leadership, instructional staff, and families as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate strategies into daily routines.
  • Collaboration with CPSE & Families
    • Participate in CPSE meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
    • Provide families with updates on their child’s progress, offering strategies for supporting language development at home.
    • Serve as a liaison between Harlem Gems, families, and external service providers.
  • Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
    • Provide constructive feedback to teachers and staff on language-supportive practices.
    • Model effective strategies within the classroom.
    • Design and facilitate professional development sessions focused on speech, language, and communication best practices.

Hours:

  • Approximately 20 hours per week; however, exact hours are flexible depending on program needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • Strong knowledge of child development, language acquisition, and early intervention practices
  • Experience collaborating with CPSE, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
