Job Role: Senior Accountant – Australian Accounting
Compensation range: $2,400 AUD - $3,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: An Australian finance and CFO advisory firm providing finance and operational BAU outsourced services and advisory services to growing mid-sized businesses. The firm supports clients with financial management, reporting, analysis, and commercial decision-making through a practical, hands-on approach to improve financial processes and provide actionable growth insights.
Role Overview: We are seeking a hard-working, proactive, go-getter Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role has a strong focus on supporting e-commerce and retail-related businesses within our client portfolio. It is a generalist accounting position suited to an ambitious, highly driven professional who can manage complex operational finance workflows and adapt seamlessly to dynamic client environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform multi-entity bank, payment gateway, and general ledger reconciliations across varied accounting systems.
- Manage accounts inbox triage, verifying supplier details, reviewing incoming bills, and routing documents efficiently.
- Oversee AP batch payment processes, supplier payment setups, and approval workflows across multiple bank platforms.
- Support payroll operations, including wages calculations, leave reconciliations, and payroll disbursement support.
- Provide end-to-end general accounting support based on individual client requirements.
- Take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Support the day-to-day accounting needs of assigned clients.
- Review and maintain financial records and accounting information with a high level of accuracy.
- Work with different client processes, systems, and accounting requirements.
- Adapt quickly when taking on new clients or transitioning into new accounts.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines across different client requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or issues in accounting information and address them appropriately.
- Maintain organised and accurate accounting records and documentation.
- Communicate clearly with clients and relevant stakeholders regarding accounting requirements, priorities, and issues.
- Work independently while maintaining consistent communication and accountability.
- Support additional clients and accounting requirements as the business continues to grow.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, accuracy, and service across all assigned client accounts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- CPA-qualified with proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar senior-level accounting role.
- Strong generalist accounting and finance operations experience, including general ledger management, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accruals, and prepayments.
- Australian accounting experience is essential, including familiarity with Australian accounting practices, taxation, and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience using Xero for accounting and general ledger management, and Employment Hero for payroll processing, including Australian payroll requirements such as superannuation, PAYG withholding, and STP reporting.
- Experience with Airwallex for supplier payments and accounts payable, and Cin7 or similar inventory management systems.
- Experience supporting e-commerce businesses, particularly with inventory accounting, supplier payments, and understanding how inventory movements and valuation affect Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and the Profit and Loss statement.
- Experience supporting clients with different accounting requirements, processes, and business environments.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working remotely and supporting international clients in a dedicated role.
- Must be available for full-time employment and commit exclusively to this position, without other employment or ongoing client engagements.
