The Role
his is a new, exciting opportunity to join our growing global team. The successful candidate will join Javelin’s Trade Finance team, and will assist in carrying out all aspects of Javelin’s day-to-day trade finance activities.
This role will be based in our Bangalore office and represents Javelin’s first Trade Finance hire in the region, offering a unique opportunity to help establish and grow the function locally. While based in Bangalore, the successful candidate will work as part of a highly collaborative global team and will receive daily support and guidance from experienced Trade Finance colleagues in Singapore and London.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain strong relationships with financing banks and lenders
- Building strong relationships with all employees at Javelin
- Liaise with Commercial and Operations teams on transactions.
- Drafting and negotiating of import/export letters of credit and documents
- Negotiating LC documentation and reviewing associated shipping documents
- Liaising with Trading/Logistics team to resolve queries and discrepancies
- Negotiating LC rates and charges with banks and clients
- Monitoring and updating daily reporting via internal risk system
Requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
- Self-motivated candidate with experience of a similar role within commodities operations
- Experience of document checking, with a strong attention to detail
- Organised, efficient and able to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to communicate globally at all levels
- A proactive work ethic with a desire to drive tasks to completion
- CDCS qualification is advantageous
- General understanding of UCP600/ISBP 745
- General understanding of shipping terms
- General understanding of the commercial terms pertaining to international trade flows
- Fluency in written and spoken English Language.
