Your role
Every installer that finances a project with Cloover is waiting on us for something: a customer approved, a limit set, an invoice paid, a question answered. Every hour we take is an hour their project sits still. As Portfolio Operations & Underwriting Analyst, you'll run that engine — KYC, B2C and B2B underwriting, installer payouts, and the customer and installer issues that come with a fast-growing loan book — making decisions that move real money from your first week.
You'll report to the Head of Portfolio Management and work within a team of six across Finance Operations and Portfolio Management. You'll work daily with Risk, Product, Accounting and our Sales and Customer Success teams.
Your mission
- Clear KYC and compliance checks for customers and installers the same day, so no financing stalls on missing documents.
- Underwrite B2C financing applications and B2B installer requests — new installer sign-ups, backed by recommendations that hold up at credit committee.
- Get installers paid accurately and on time: verify final invoices against contracts, completion protocols and photos, and run payouts with four-eyes control, so no payment goes out wrong and none waits without a reason.
- Resolve installer and customer issues end to end, with a first response the same day and no case left without an owner.
- Keep our data clean by working the daily alerts, so the backoffice, invoices and payments stay in sync and what our lenders see is right.
- Find the root cause behind recurring issues and fix it for good: write the SOP, work with Product on the fix, and automate what shouldn't be manual.
Your profile
We care more about how you think and what you've built than where you've been. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:
- 1–3 years in credit, lending or payments operations at a bank, fintech or consumer lender
- You read a credit report or a bank statement and pull out what matters for a decision, and you're comfortable saying no and explaining why.
- You work through a high-volume queue without losing accuracy: you tie totals to the cent, document your decisions, and flag exceptions instead of letting them slide.
- You handle a frustrated installer or customer calmly, in writing or on the phone, and close the loop. You're fluent in English and confident in Excel or Google Sheets, and you reach for SQL or AI to remove manual work.
- Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We're intentionally office-first — decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that's how you thrive, you'll feel at home here.
Nice to have (but not required):
- Working German (B2 or above) — many of our installer and customer conversations happen in German.
- Hands-on experience with German credit and payments infrastructure:
Don't meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective — credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling.
How we hire
We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks.
- Intro call (30 min) — We want to understand what you're looking for, not just screen your CV.
- Hiring manager interview (30 min) — We go deep: your experience, your thinking, how you approach problems.
- Case study (1 hour) — You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach — not whether you land on the right answer.
- Offer & signed contract.
