Night Host

Welcome to The Usual, the design hotel and F&B hotspot you’ve been waiting for. Our incredible design hotel offers more than just accommodation; it provides a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests are treated like friends. Are you a night owl who can handle hotel responsibilities while the rest of the world sleeps? Join us at The Usual Rotterdam.

Hello night owl! We trust you to look after our guests while they arrive late at the hotel, while they are asleep and while they are getting ready for the next day. You will excel at caring for guests, employees and providing a safe haven during the night at The Usual Rotterdam.

Be you with us

We're committed to being a hotel that won’t treat the planet like a hotel. We think that travel can be a force for good. Our solution-oriented group of optimists is committed to offering welcoming city trips that empower and inspire our guests, our colleagues, and the locals to do good, every step of the way.

At our workplace, we foster an empowering environment where individuals are encouraged to unleash their full potential. Our team embraces a warm and welcoming atmosphere, creating a sense of belonging and support for everyone. Collaboration is at the heart of our culture, as we believe that great achievements are made through teamwork and shared ideas. We are a game-changing company, constantly pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo of traditional hospitality. Join us in making conscious travel accessible to all and experience a workplace where being your authentic self is celebrated.

The role

As Night Host, you are co-responsible for the well-being of fellow employees, guests and our guest satisfaction on a daily basis. Your core focus is to create a welcoming and unforgettable experience for our guests while being responsible for the safety of our guests and fellow employees. During your shift, you are engaged in:

  • Performing common reception duties, such as checking guests in and out and providing information;
  • Being at our Ubar and prepare delicious drinks for our guests;
  • Doing some financial audit activities;
  • Monitoring the sleep and safety of our guests;
  • Helping prepare breakfast and ensure that the hotel is ready for the morning.

What you'll bring to the table

With a genuine and friendly nature, you effortlessly build connections with others. As a team player, you thrive in an environment of open communication and honest feedback. You are also driven by a passion for sustainability. In your work, you enjoy a wide range of tasks and with your time management skills you ensure that everything is handled. Next to this, the following requirements apply:

  • "Night auditor": previous hotel (or similar) experience is great, but it's not a must-have for us - if you're eager to learn we can teach you what you need to know.
  • Fluency in English is essential, additional languages are a plus.
  • Available during the nights. The shift runs from 23:00 - 07:00.
  • You are comfortable working with a flexible schedule and adaptable working hours. Some weeks may require more hours than others, depending on operational needs.
  • Must have a heart for sustainability.
  • You are legally allowed to work in The Netherlands.

What's in it for you?

  • Hourly salary around €15,- gross. On top of that comes a 20% night allowance for hours worked during the night.
  • We will offer you a 0-hour contract, where worked hours vary per week based on operational needs.
  • Pension contribution to take care of your old days.
  • Personal development opportunities.
  • Personal monthly budget to be used for fun-stuff: shopping, entertainment, education, well-being and more.
  • The opportunity to join an innovative, international hospitality group that’s committed to not just building new hotels but building a brand.
  • Are you fond of your coworkers and enjoy spending time with them? Join us for get-togethers, which include food and beverages, to further strengthen those connections.
  • Fixed travel allowance for commuting.
  • Personal coaching based on (y)our goals, development and ambition.
  • Discount for you and family while enjoying time off (relax, eat, sleep, meet, and play) in our hotels
  • Exchange program across The Usual hotels (optional program).
  • We celebrate you and your style. We provide uniforms; however we leave room for your personal touch.
  • Extra time off to volunteer with our charities.
