Senior Fullstack Software Engineer , Enterprise Foundation
hybrid- San Francisco, California or Vancouver, Canada
About The Role & Team
We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Enterprise Foundation team, the group that builds the foundations enterprise customers rely on to run Amplitude at scale: permissions and access control, enterprise identity and administration, alerts, exports, and shared services.
You’ll work with our Product Manager and Designer to define, build, and ship end-to-end features and platform capabilities that make Amplitude secure, governable, and dependable for the largest organizations in the world. You’ll own your impact from shaping technical and product direction to delivering reliable, performant, and well-designed experiences.
Our engineers are customer-focused and solve complex problems where correctness and reliability matter. Because our systems sit underneath many customers and teams, we plan deliberately for reliability, migrations, support, and incident response alongside roadmap delivery. If you’re passionate about building trustworthy, enterprise-grade foundations that other teams and customers build on, we’d love to meet you.
The team’s mission is to deliver the enterprise-grade foundations (permissions, administration, governance, alerting, and shared services) that let customers confidently adopt and scale Amplitude, while driving infrastructure initiatives that strengthen and scale the platform.
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
Work with Product Management and Design to turn enterprise customer needs into well-scoped engineering solutions
Own the end-to-end delivery of projects, from design through rollout, migration, and ongoing operation
Design and build reliable services and APIs, with attention to security, correctness, and blast radius
Take part in on-call, incident response, and the long-term reliability of the systems the team owns
Get involved in performance optimization and scaling efforts
Lead the highest-leverage projects and contribute to the team’s technical direction
Mentor and contribute to the success of other engineers on the team
You'll be a great addition to the team if you:
Have 5+ years of experience building and improving robust, scalable backends and developing interactive, user-facing applications
Understand the whole stack and flow of user-facing web applications
Have backend experience with application backends, microservices, and high-throughput systems
Have experience with, or strong interest in, authentication, authorization, permissions models, or other enterprise-grade platform capabilities
Have a track record of safely migrating and evolving critical systems with minimal customer impact
Have a strong critical thinking and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Have exceptional communication skills, adapt well to changing requirements, and have a proven track record of successful delivery
Can synthesize customer input and architectural knowledge to create outsized engineering impact
Have a constant desire to learn and grow in the field of web development
Have experience with CI/CD pipelines and are a strong practitioner of automated testing
Are familiar with the following: React, TypeScript, Python, NestJS, Temporal
Have interest or experience in technical leadership of an engineering team
