The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and interpreting the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), mammography, ultrasound, plain X-Rays and fluoroscopy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting on all plain X-Rays and conducting special investigations, such as barium enemas, meal, IVP, VCUG, sialogram, retrograde urethrogram and HSG
- Communicating examination results or diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, or families
- Providing counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks and benefits of the procedure
- Developing or monitoring procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images
- Instructing radiologic staff in desired techniques, positions, or projections
- Conducting physical examinations to make decisions about appropriate procedures
The successful candidate must possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A Medical Degree (M.D. or M.B.B.S.) from an accredited school of medicine, plus a completed residency programme in Radiology.
- At least three (3) years of relevant practical experience.
- Up-to-date registration with the Barbados Medical Council (or other professional registration body if not resident in Barbados).
- High proficiency and comfort level in performing biopsies and CT drainage procedures
- BLS or ACLS certification would be an asset.
