About Endurance
Endurance is building the world's first modular subsea geothermal power plants, converting vast thermal resources under the ocean into gigawatts of baseload power. Backed by Founders Fund, Felicis, First Round Capital, and Point72 Ventures, our founding team includes veterans from SpaceX, Helion, Blue Origin, and Apple. We have completed multiple deep-ocean deployments to subsea volcanoes and are launching a long-term demonstration project this fall. By leveraging modular design, manufacturing scale, efficient drilling, and latent cooling on the seafloor, we are pioneering a new category of energy that outperforms traditional sources on environmental impact, deployment speed, and cost.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Harness Engineer at Endurance, you will own the design and implementation of our subsea hardware’s power, data, and signal interconnections.
This is a design-ownership role. You will take schematics and interface documents from our engineers and turn them into complete harness designs: connector and cable selection, shielding and grounding strategy, routing and strain relief, overmold and penetrator approach, termination specifications, drawings, and BOMs. You will decide what we build in-house and what we send out, and you will qualify and manage the outside harness shops, connector vendors, and molders we rely on.
Harness failures are among the most common causes of lost subsea hardware. Your judgment and execution will have a substantial impact on the success of our deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Own harness design for subsea deployment and test systems, from interface definition through released drawings
Participate in and own technical trades that will balance stakeholder objectives and drive system architecture, including how and whether subsystems are physically partitioned
Produce harness drawings, physical layouts in CAD, BOMs, and termination specifications
Define the manufacturing plan for each harness: what is built in-house, what goes to partners, the tooling required, and the build sequence
Help identify and qualify external harness manufacturers, connector and cable suppliers, and overmolding partners
Define acceptance test requirements for continuity, hipot, insulation resistance, and pressure, and review results with the build team
Partner with our production team on DFM, assembly tooling, and work instructions, and incorporate build feedback into designs
Troubleshoot harness and interconnect faults on test systems and deployed hardware, and drive root cause and corrective action
Help shape harness standards and the supplier base as Endurance scales from demonstration to commercial systems
Investigate new technologies and approaches to solve our unique requirements
Required Qualifications
3+ years of engineering experience designing and delivering wiring harnesses or electrical interconnect for complex hardware systems
Strong understanding of connectors, cable construction, shielding, grounding, and signal integrity, and of how harnesses fail in the field
Experience producing harness drawings, BOMs, termination specifications, and 3D layouts in CAD (e.g., Siemens NX)
Working knowledge of harness test methods including hipot, insulation resistance, and continuity testing
Hands-on experience building and terminating prototypes
Ability to perform basic PCBA or component level electrical measurements and debugging
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with technicians, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers
Comfortable in a fast-paced, prototype-driven environment where designs evolve rapidly
Ability to work onsite in Seattle and travel to deployment sites as required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing harnesses for marine, subsea, aerospace, or defense systems
Experience with wet-mate and dry-mate subsea connectors, penetrators, overmolding, and PBOF systems
Experience pressure-testing or qualifying subsea assemblies
Experience debugging electrical systems and circuit boards
Experience qualifying and managing harness manufacturers or connector suppliers
Certification in or knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and related assembly and inspection standards
Compensation, Benefits, & Perks
As a pre-revenue startup, Endurance Energy offers competitive base salaries and generous equity packages for full-time employees. Final base salary will be determined by an array of factors including internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and work experience.
A key aspect of our compensation philosophy is that value creation should be aligned with rewards. Right now this means equity is a significant portion of every full-time employee's compensation. As the company matures, there will be continued evolution and changes to the total rewards and total compensation package. What will always be true is that if we win, we win together. Equity is granted to every full-time employee as a meaningful piece of ownership. We believe the people building the company should share directly in the value they create.
In addition to a competitive base salary and equity, employees will receive all of our other great benefits and perks, including:
Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage
Time Away: Flexible PTO including 12 paid company holidays
Global Fieldwork: Travel to fascinating deployment sites along oceanic ridges in locations like the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, and the Azores
Hands-on Experience: Participate in sea trials and deployment operations in partnership with leading oceanographic institutions
Cutting-edge Development: Work with technology that spans high-power electronics, marine systems, and clean energy
Impactful Work: Help solve one of the world's most pressing challenges
Dive Certification: Company-sponsored recreational dive certification
Other Perks: Access to the company boat, free meals and snacks, and the list goes on!
