About this role
Suspense thrives on uncertainty, a calculated pause that draws in the observer. In this pause, placeholders emerge as valuable cues. Their very presence suggests that what is yet unseen could hold the answers, a revelation or a solution. When used thoughtfully, a placeholder can tease and compel, engaging the imagination.
Responsibilities
In websites, a loading spinner is no different than the ellipsis of a suspenseful plot twist; it tells the viewer that what is coming is worth waiting for. Key benefits of effective placeholders include:
- Maintaining engagement: By signaling more to come, placeholders prevent user drop-off.
- Setting expectations: Clear, well-placed placeholders hint at what content is coming next, adding structure.
- Building suspense: The anticipation of more content holds attention, just as in storytelling.
Placeholder content, however, must tread a careful line. Too sparse, and it risks undermining its own suspense; too dense, and it overwhelms with unnecessary clutter. The balance lies in leaving just enough room for the mind to wander and fill the gaps.
Senior Product Manager (US Cards)
- Virginia
- Full Time (Permanent)
- Hybrid
- Cards US Product
About the role
You'll own customer lifecycle management for US Cards. That covers everything from a customer's first transaction through every part of their relationship with us. You'll join as we prove out the book, then take it into its next phase of growth. This suits someone who wants to shape a product while it's still being defined, not inherit a finished one.
You'll be part of a small team of data-driven problem solvers. Like most teams at Lendable, it's small relative to what it runs, so you'll own decisions and their implementation rather than handing them off. The work sits close to the proprietary AI and decisioning that lets us see people as individuals rather than credit scores. You'll be expected to use AI to build, test and analyse faster than a team our size otherwise could.
What you'll be doing
Owning the product vision and roadmap: first to market parity, then past it, for our current and expanding target segment, driven by customer understanding and experimentation.
Owning the customer lifecycle from first transaction onwards, including credit line management, spend and engagement growth, balance growth, pricing and proposition management, and retention and reactivation.
Shaping the mobile app experience to drive activation, spend and engagement.
Building new credit propositions alongside the core Cards product.
Executing hands-on: writing and resolving tickets, prototyping, and owning implementation and design decisions. You'll use AI tools to build the scrappiest thing that answers the question rather than waiting for engineering capacity.
Bringing Credit, Growth, Design, Data Science and Compliance with you, and partnering closely with US Cards Managing Director.
Setting clear, measurable goals and judging your work by whether the numbers moved, not by what shipped. You'll champion experimentation and never ship what you can't sense-check.
What we're looking for
Essential
A track record of owning product outcomes end to end. You make tough calls under ambiguity, own them, and course-correct when the evidence turns.
Strong analytical instinct:
a feel for what the numbers should look like
the instinct to notice when something is off
the persistence to find the real driver, without taking a confident answer from a dashboard or model at face value
Comfort working hands-on: writing and resolving tickets, prototyping, and making implementation and design decisions yourself.
Real fluency with AI tools as a working part of how you build, test and analyse.
The ability to lead through influence across Credit, Growth, Design, Data Science and Compliance. You change your mind when presented with a good argument, and you expect others to do the same.
Nice to have
Experience with consumer credit lifecycle levers such as credit line management, pricing, and retention and reactivation.
Experience shaping mobile app journeys for activation and engagement.
Interview process
A quick chat with someone from our Talent team to see if the role is a good match.
A 15-minute cognitive assessment.
An interview with the Hiring Manager, covering your experience and how you approach the work.
A practical exercise or case study relevant to the role, discussed with the team you'd be working with.
A set of final interviews to assess how you'd thrive within our team and organisation.

So far, we’ve rebuilt the big three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days. We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do. We’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.
