WHY JOIN ALO?

Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.

OVERVIEW

Alo is seeking a talented and highly creative Freelance Graphic Designer to support the development of original graphics across our apparel and accessories collections.

This individual will work closely with the Design team to conceptualize, develop, and execute compelling graphic designs that reflect Alo’s elevated aesthetic and connection to fashion, performance, and contemporary culture.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong visual point of view, exceptional typography and composition skills, and a refined understanding of how graphics translate onto physical products. This role requires a balance of creativity, technical execution, and attention to detail, with the ability to deliver innovative concepts in a fast-paced design environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Design & Development

- Conceptualize and create original graphics for apparel and accessories across seasonal collections.
- Develop typography, illustrations, patterns, logos, and graphic artwork that align with Alo’s design direction.
- Research emerging trends across fashion, art, culture, and graphic design to inspire fresh creative concepts.
- Translate seasonal themes, mood boards, and creative direction into compelling graphic executions.
- Explore innovative graphic treatments, placements, color combinations, and application techniques.
- Present creative concepts and refine artwork based on design feedback.

Product Design & Execution

- Collaborate closely with apparel and accessories designers to integrate graphics into product collections.
- Develop artwork for various applications, including screen printing, embroidery, heat transfers, and specialty finishes.
- Create detailed graphic specifications, placement layouts, colorways, and production-ready artwork.
- Ensure graphic scale, placement, color, and execution are appropriate for each product category.
- Review artwork samples and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Maintain consistency across graphic applications while supporting seasonal design evolution.

Collaboration & Workflow

- Partner with the Design and Product Development teams throughout the creative and development process.
- Manage multiple graphic projects simultaneously while meeting seasonal deadlines.
- Incorporate creative feedback efficiently without compromising design quality.
- Maintain organized artwork files, graphic libraries, and technical documentation.
- Support the overall creative vision through thoughtful design solutions and strong attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 3–5+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably within fashion, activewear, streetwear, or lifestyle apparel.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating original graphic concepts, typography, illustration, and apparel graphic design.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, composition, color, and visual hierarchy.
- Experience preparing production-ready artwork and technical graphic specifications.
- Knowledge of apparel printing techniques, embroidery, and graphic application processes.
- Strong awareness of contemporary fashion, cultural movements, and emerging design trends.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

- Previous experience designing graphics for premium apparel, activewear, or contemporary fashion brands.
- Experience developing seasonal graphic collections across multiple product categories.
- Strong capabilities in custom typography, lettering, illustration, and graphic treatments.
- Understanding of garment construction and how graphics interact with different fabrics, silhouettes, and materials.
- Experience working directly with product development teams and external production partners.
