About the Position

Energy Exemplar is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our Data and Insights Product Line, responsible for driving the product’s vision, strategy, and commercial success. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in North American power and natural gas markets, along with a strong background working with energy trading teams or market participants, with an understanding of trading workflows, risk management, and market dynamics. This role will oversee product growth and profitability, guide research and development, and own the product roadmap while staying ahead of market trends and competitive dynamics.

  • Foster a customer-focused, collaborative culture to drive innovation and product value
  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with market needs and business goals
  • Set and track clear KPIs (adoption, revenue, retention) to measure success
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating customer and market needs into actionable features
  • Build and communicate a data-driven roadmap based on market trends, competition, and customer feedback
  • Analyze industry dynamics across power and gas markets to inform product strategy
  • Partner closely with energy trading teams and market participants to understand day-to-day workflows (e.g., bidding, hedging, portfolio optimization) and translate them into product features
  • Embed key market drivers such as LMP pricing, congestion, fuel costs, and hedging strategies into product capabilities to support real-time trading and risk decisions
  • Enhance analytics and simulation tools (e.g., PLEXOS, ETRM integrations) to improve forecasting accuracy, dispatch optimization, and portfolio risk management for trading teams
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on go-to-market strategy and positioning
  • Work with customer success to drive adoption, satisfaction, and expansion
  • Monitor product performance, usage metrics (onboarding, time-to-value, NPS), and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Support revenue growth by aligning product strategy with commercial opportunities

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of experience in the energy or utilities industry, with a strong understanding of market dynamics and industry trends
  • 6–8+ years of product management experience, ideally within energy, SaaS, or technical software environments
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with high proficiency in data interpretation and problem-solving
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, for analysis, reporting, and executive presentations
  • Experience working with power systems software or SaaS solutions, with the ability to translate technical capabilities into business value
  • Familiarity with technical tools for data analysis, consulting, and project delivery
  • Proven experience managing energy-related products, with a focus on delivering customer and commercial outcomes
  • Deep knowledge of power and natural gas markets in North America, including market structure, pricing, and regulatory considerations
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and rapport across teams and clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong listening and presentation skills, with a consultative and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and accountability in achieving goals and driving results
  • Strong desire for continuous learning, growth, and career advancement
  • Expertise in core product management disciplines, including product discovery, market research, roadmap development, and adoption analysis
