Second Foundation is an international energy trading and asset management firm headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, with offices in Switzerland, Germany, Japan and the US. Our team of 500 plus professionals specializes in power trading, transforming complex data into market-leading trading strategies through advanced technology and sophisticated quantitative modelling.
We are looking for new colleagues who have done the work themselves and now want to design how it works rather than only run it. You will own one domain end to end — how it should work, what the system has to do to support it, and whether what gets built is actually right. Over time you will take on a second domain, so this is a role that broadens rather than narrows.
You will be the person who knows the domain, writes down how it works, and is accountable for the design being correct. You are the link between the people who know the business and the people who know the systems. You do not write code, and you do not decide the accounting rule. Your job is to make sure both sides mean the same thing — and to be the one who can tell, at the end, whether they did.
What would you work on?
- Own one Operations domain end to end, initially across areas such as accounting, controlling, consolidation, treasury, and cash flow, with the opportunity to expand into other domains over time.
- Understand and document how your domain works today, including exceptions, dependencies, and connections to other areas.
- Design improved processes and translate business needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare test scenarios, coordinate UAT with key users, and validate that delivered solutions meet the agreed business requirements.
- Act as the functional point of contact for your domain, supporting and training key users after implementation.
- Keeping your part of the Process Guide current, so that how things work is written down rather than carried in someone's head.
- Work closely with Business Analysts as requirements are translated into technical designs, and ensure the final solution matches the intended business outcome.
What makes you a great candidate?
- 3+ years of proven experience in accounting, controlling, consolidation, treasury, compliance; with an interest in process and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and process experience, with the ability to identify exceptions, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Understanding of controls, audit trails, and the importance of regulatory and statutory deadlines.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into clear requirements, specifications, and documentation.
- Comfortable working between business and technical teams and discussing topics such as data models or integrations without needing to be a technical specialist.
- Strong Excel skills; Power BI/Superset and SQL are an advantage.
- Experience with ERP implementations, consolidation tools, data warehouse projects, or UAT is a strong plus.
- Fluent Czech and English; additional languages are an advantage.
