FULL TIME

You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience to become an industry specialist within a stimulating and supportive environment. Our team specialises in all aspects of the energy transition. We offer strategic and commercial advice, model power systems and markets, and support transactions.

In general, you will support AFRY’s consulting activities for a wide range of clients including major financial investors, international developers, utilities, government, and regulatory bodies – focusing on the energy sector. The role will focus on Philippine clients and market but will also work collaboratively with our global Management Consulting offices, as well as AFRY’s other divisions, in the APAC region.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse, interpret, and present both basic and complex data related to the electricity sector and the energy transition for a wide variety of projects, with guidance from senior team members
  • Help develop and execute electricity market models used for projecting long term market dispatch/operation and prices for the Philippines, and also the other markets within APAC region. The tasks include, but are not limited to, preparing forecasts of supply and demand, detailed research on power plant parameters and market policy review, and interpreting modelling results, with guidance from senior team members
  • Conduct in-depth market research pertaining to the latest updates on regulations, market trends and outlooks within the electricity market for the Philippines and related countries related to APAC region.
  • Support as delivery team for strategic advisory pertaining to decarbonisation strategy and market design, including transaction/M&A activities (with focus on market and commercial perspectives)
  • Work and operate according to AFRY’s values, including acting as a “Brave, Devoted, Team Player”.
  • Analysts typically have 0-2 years work experience.
  • We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical – so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis. This includes the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently.
  • Virtually all the work we do requires team working, so if you have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit in well.
  • In addition, report-writing is a core part of our work and so we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way, in English, using both MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • You will be working in a commercial environment against budgets and deadlines, so you will need to be able to think for yourself, be pro-active, and have a business-oriented mindset.
  • If you have an understanding of Philippines and/or other Asian energy market dynamics (including any experience with PLEXOS or other energy market modelling software or tools) and energy policy, this is a definite advantage.
  • You need to be fluent in English. Your ability to speak other languages is also an advantage.
  • Ability to work well with people from a range of cultures
  • Coding skills, e.g. Python, MS SQL or VBA – as well as the capability to use and leverage AI to enhance processes, research, data-gathering, etc. – are an advantage.
  • Our Analysts often have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Engineering from a leading university or have experience working for a company in the power industry, but we also welcome candidates from other relevant backgrounds.

We offer a competitive salary, a performance-related bonus scheme, and a strong range of benefits, in a friendly international working environment with a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects.
