Posting Type Hybrid/Remote Job Overview Who We Are     Relativity is a leading legal data intelligence company building technology that helps users organize data, discover the truth, and act on it with confidence. Our AI‑powered, cloud platform, Relativity aiR, transforms massive volumes of complex information into actionable insights for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, data breach responses, and other high‑stakes legal work where accuracy and trust are crucial.     The world’s largest law firms, corporations and government agencies rely on Relativity’s legal AI software to securely surface and manage the most relevant and impactful information in their matters. Beyond our commercial impact, we’re deeply committed to expanding access to technology for academic institutions through Relativity Academic and supporting pro bono legal work through Justice for Change.     What We Do  At Relativity, engineers don’t just write code, they harness AI tools to architect, optimize, and deliver scalable software faster and shape the future of legal technology. They shape how industries uncover critical insights, ensure compliance, advance access to justice and continuously evolve our platform using the latest technologies, including cloud-native architectures, AI capabilities, and modern developer tooling. Our AI powers privacy programs, identifies confidential information, and detects language indicating misconduct. We’re reimagining how legal professionals uncover truth at scale, and engineering is at the heart of that transformation.     If you’re passionate about solving hard problems, designing for scale, and building tools that matter, while working in a culture that values transparency, innovation, and shared success, Relativity offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the marketplace.  Job Description and Requirements About the Role  Relativity's design system is moving to UX, and we are building its next generation. You will own its technical architecture: how the library is built, packaged, published, and consumed by every product team at Relativity, and how it stays correct as the product migrates to it. The framework is chosen, the first components exist, and it ships through our micro frontend. Everything past that will be owned by you: packaging, release and versioning strategy, and testing. You will also own the migration strategy for the libraries it replaces.    Job Description and Requirements  Own the technical architecture of the design system: module format and packaging, peer dependencies, the publish path to Artifactory and CDN, and how two versions of the library coexist on a single page under micro frontends.   Set the versioning, deprecation, and breaking-change policy for a library 60+ repositories depend on, and define the migration architecture that moves them across.   Define the build, release, and testing strategy, including automated visual regression and the token pipeline that keeps design and code from drifting.   Architect the library to be correctly consumable by AI coding agents, so generated frontend code is compliant and accessible by default rather than by manual review.   Define the accessibility standard the platform builds against, with conformance validated in the pipeline rather than caught downstream, and support the compliance obligations our customers require.  Own reliability and incident response across the new library and the legacy libraries, and build the severity and escalation model the team does not have today.  Resolve complex, cross-organizational technical problems through deep technical expertise, collaboration, and hands-on implementation.   Drive frontend engineering standards across teams through design and code reviews, patterns, documented standards, and coaching, and align technical execution with product strategy and delivery commitments.   What we’re looking for  Required Qualifications  10+ years building and operating frontend systems that other engineering teams depend on.  Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams or domains.   Strong background in architecture, security, and reliability at scale.   Ability to define technical direction and drive cross-team alignment.   Experience translating business goals into technical strategy.   Proven ability to influence without formal authority.   Strong mentorship and technical communication skills.   Deep React and TypeScript experience.  Experience owning build and release tooling for a published package, not just consuming one.  Deep experience with semantic HTML and CSS, and accessible component patterns.  Preferred Qualifications  You have built and maintained a design system that multiple teams depend upon.  You are fluent with AI-development tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor.   You can plan a design system migration that teams will follow, including the conversations where a team pushes back or a change breaks them.  You can explain packaging decisions to a designer and a design decision to a platform engineer.   You have set an accessibility standard other teams built against, with validation automated rather than manual.  You have modernized a large legacy frontend system Why We Could Be A Great Fit   Impactful Mission: Organize Data, Discover the Truth and Act on It - Our customers include Fortune 500 enterprises and leading law firms managing high-stakes matters on our platform.    Engineering Culture: Continuous delivery, strong observability, and end-to-end ownership.    Inclusive Environment: Diverse backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger.     Community Impact: Volunteer opportunities and company-sponsored charitable programs.    Compensation & Benefits: Competitive salary, health and retirement programs, wellness resources, discretionary time off (DTO), parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers, two annual company breaks, home office stipend, and an equity program.  Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices. This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives. The expected salary range for this role is between following values: $174,000 and $262,000 The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position. Required Skills: Algorithms, Automation, Debugging, Distributed Systems, Performance Tuning, Problem Solving, Project Management, Software Development, System Designs, Technical Leadership We’re solving big data challenges in the legal tech industry, and we’re always looking for more people to join us on the journey. At Relativity, you'll learn cross-functional skills to grow your career and have the chance to make a big impact on our customers, our industry, and our communities. We admire and value our employees, so it’s no surprise that our hiring process is designed to help us really get to know you – and for you to get to know us, too.
