Join CERN's IC Technology R&D team and contribute to the development of advanced electronics for future particle detectors. We are seeking an engineer with expertise in system-level modelling and digital ASIC design to work at the interface between architecture-level simulation and hardware implementation. In this role, you will help develop and validate innovative electronic systems, bridging high-level design exploration with hands-on digital hardware development.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and use simulation models to study and optimise electronic systems for future particle detectors.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of digital integrated circuits based on system-level specifications.
  • Support the verification and validation of electronic designs through simulation and testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers, physicists and software developers on the development of advanced detector electronics.
  • Help improve the performance, efficiency and reliability of electronic systems.
  • Document designs, results and technical developments, and share knowledge within the team.
  • This role includes team supervision responsibilities.

Your profile

  • Knowledge of digital electronics and digital design gained through academic, research or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Understanding of system-level modelling, simulation and verification techniques.
  • Interest in integrated circuit design and advanced electronics for scientific applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments.

Skills

  • Good programming skills in C++ and familiarity with Python.
  • Knowledge of digital design concepts and hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Familiarity with simulation, modelling and software development tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:
