The Representative is accountable for creating and verifying accurate demographic and financial information in the financial and clinical record system through telephone or face-to-face contact. The Representative is expert in maintaining accurate, up-to-date demographic and financial information on each patient served. The Representative verifies information through patient-supplied materials or on-line verification as provided by the organization. The Representative communicates health benefit information including the organization’s Discount Policy and financial obligations to patients served. The Representative has primary responsibility for answering all phone calls and requests made to the area of responsibility. The Representative is primarily responsible for securing and maintaining a highly effective and productive clinic schedule. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required One year customer service Communication skills required to interview patients and families, to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians, third party payors and resource persons Concise written communication skills Proficient in use of computer hardware and software Preferred: Experience with customers in hospital, business or insurance office Knowledge of basic medical terminology Familiar with insurance College course work Working at University Health is about making a difference.
