Established in 2021, Independence Pet Holdings is a corporate holding company that manages a diverse and broad portfolio of modern pet health brands and services, including insurance, pet education, lost recovery services, and more throughout North America. We believe pet insurance is more than a financial product and build solutions to simplify the pet parenting journey and help improve the well-being of pets. As a leading authority in the pet category, we operate with a full stack of resources, capital, and services to support pet parents. Our multi-brand and omni-channel approach include our own insurance carrier, insurance brands and partner brands. Job Summary: As a Product Analyst at Independence Pet Holdings, you will directly influence the performance, competitiveness, and regulatory strength of our pet insurance portfolio. You will analyze product performance, identify rate and underwriting opportunities, and support the development of insurance products that balance customer value with profitable growth. Working closely with Product Management, Actuarial, and Underwriting, you will apply your insurance analytics expertise to evaluate loss trends, rate adequacy, pricing assumptions, and portfolio health. Your insights will guide decisions that ensure our products remain compliant, competitive, and aligned with carrier and MGA strategic objectives. This role is ideal for someone who understands the nuances of insurance product performance and is motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of pet insurance. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Performance Analysis — Analyze product and portfolio P&L, including earned premium, loss ratios, frequency/severity trends, rate adequacy, and underwriting performance to identify profit and growth opportunities. Insurance KPI Reporting — Develop and enhance reporting tools that support carrier and MGA decision‑making, including dashboards for rate actions, retention, claims trends, and regulatory performance. Product & Rating Expertise — Serve as a subject matter expert on pet insurance contracts, rating structures, underwriting guidelines, and state‑specific product variations. Data Integrity & Analysis — Work with structured data from multiple systems (policy admin, claims, rating engines, distribution partners) to generate accurate, actionable insights. Ad Hoc Insurance Analysis — Conduct deep‑dive analyses on emerging issues such as loss spikes, rate need, regulatory changes, or underwriting leakage. Underwriting & Actuarial Collaboration — Partner with Actuarial and Underwriting to evaluate rate indications, monitor product performance, and support filings, forms updates, and pricing changes. Product Monitoring & Compliance Support — Support ongoing product maintenance, including monitoring regulatory requirements, state variations, and DOI‑related impacts on product strategy. Strategic Portfolio Consultation — Provide recommendations on product strategy, pricing actions, underwriting adjustments, and market opportunities based on analytical trends. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience. 2+ years of experience in P&C or pet insurance analytics, pricing, product management, or underwriting. Strong understanding of insurance KPIs (loss ratio, combined ratio, rate adequacy, retention, frequency/severity). Proficiency with analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, and visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau. Experience working with insurance data sources (policy admin systems, claims data, rating engines, underwriting rules). Ability to communicate complex insurance concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Compensation Base pay range: $74,122 – $92,653 per year. This is the range we reasonably expect to pay at hire. Placement within the range depends on job-related factors such as experience, skills, and certifications.
