The impact you’ll make:
The R&D Tax Incentive is a recently introduced government measure to encourage businesses undertaking R&D, and ultimately to increase Aotearoa’s business investment in R&D. As an R&D Tax Consultant, you will be responsible for assisting our clients with their R&D Tax Incentive claims.
As a R&D Tax Consultant you will work with clients to deliver R&D incentive services, with the ability to seamlessly support several engagements concurrently. Your typical day will include:
- Interviewing technical client staff to identify their research and development projects
- Being a trusted advisor to clients, and potential clients, in the R&D space
- Assisting in the writing of reports that summarise client research and development efforts and creating R&D costing models, while meeting statutory deadlines
- Supporting project teams to present Deloitte’s service offerings to clients, onboarding their work as appropriate, and delivering key pieces of work
- Being a role model for our people and clients and recognising others for the impact they make by their valued contributions
Your expertise:

You’ll also have:
- A professional qualification in engineering, technology, science, law or accounting
- 3+ years’ work experience in a consulting firm or industry
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with client technical staff
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen interest in innovation
- An understanding of how costs are allocated to R&D activities
- A results driven attitude and client oriented
