Sao Paulo, Brazil

Head of Competitive Intelligence & Strategy.

LEADERSHIPPEOPLE & OPS
Job Description : About us With over 200 brands sold in nearly 180 countries, Diageo is home to some of the world’s most iconic drinks. From Johnnie Walker and Guinness to Tanqueray, Smirnoff and Don Julio, we craft brands chosen for life’s moments — from everyday connections to landmark celebrations. Bring your talent, curiosity and ambition, and strive for your personal best alongside people who challenge, support and learn from each other. Together, as one outstanding team, we keep learning, improving and raising the bar for our brands, our business and each other. Join us and play your part in making life’s moments mean a little more. About the function: Marketing is where our brands show up in culture and stay there. This is where creativity meets insight. We take a deep understanding of people, culture and trends and turn it into ideas that spark conversation and shape how our brands are experienced around the world. From defining brand strategy to launching campaigns that people remember, the work here influences how we show up in the moments that matter. You’ll be part of a team that’s curious, collaborative and always looking ahead, reimagining our brands for today while building what comes next. About the role: The Senior Manager, Portfolio & Competitive Strategy leads the development of strategic perspectives that shape Diageo Brazil's growth agenda by integrating market dynamics, competitive intelligence, consumer understanding, commercial performance and financial insights into clear business direction. Acting as the strategic integration point across Consumer & Shopper Insights, Category Insights, Marketing, Commercial, Finance and Supply, this role transforms diverse sources of information into executive-ready recommendations that improve the quality and speed of strategic decision making. The role defines the strategic questions the business needs to answer, establishes the learning agenda, identifies research and analytical requirements, and ensures competitive intelligence is directly connected to Diageo's business priorities while proactively identifying emerging opportunities, competitive white spaces and future growth platforms. Working across categories, brands and channels, this leader develops an enterprise-wide portfolio perspective, helping prioritize investments, balance strategic trade-offs and maximize total portfolio performance. The successful candidate is expected to bring structure to ambiguity, build strategic frameworks and mental models, simplify complex business issues for senior leadership, influence without formal authority and guide cross-functional teams toward aligned, evidence-based decisions. This role serves as the strategic extension of the Head of Consumer & Shopper Insights, independently leading the Portfolio & Competitive Strategy capability, elevating strategic discussions, establishing methodologies and enabling the function to operate at a more strategic level while reducing operational complexity. The focus wlll be both in Portfolio Strategy and Competitive Intelligence. . Experience & Required Qualifications Preferred Experience 15+ years of experience in Strategy, Portfolio Strategy, Commercial Strategy, Consumer Insights, Revenue Growth Management, Competitive Strategy or Management Consulting. Experience in top-tier Management Consulting (e.g. McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Strategy&, Oliver Wyman or equivalent) and/or strategic leadership roles within FMCG is highly desirable. Strong FMCG experience. Experience influencing executive-level decision making. Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives. Strong understanding of portfolio strategy, category management and commercial dynamics. Experience working with syndicated market data (NielsenIQ, Kantar or equivalent). Experience supporting Annual Planning, IBP and Long-Term Strategy. Technical Capabilities Advanced Excel and PowerPoint. Strong business modelling and opportunity sizing capabilities. Financial and commercial acumen. Scenario planning. Executive storytelling. Structured problem solving. Ability to integrate multiple information sources into strategic recommendations. Our purpose is crafting iconic drinks chosen for life’s moments. And it’s our people, with their different experiences, perspectives and talents, who make that possible. We value diversity in its broadest sense and want everyone to feel they can belong, contribute and strive for their personal best. You’ll work alongside people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives — challenging, supporting and learning from one another as one outstanding team. Together, we’re constantly learning and improving, combining the strength of our people, capabilities and iconic brands to raise the bar, grow and win. Wherever you join us, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, make an impact and play your part in making life’s moments mean a little more. Ready to bring your best?
