As a T&A Deployment Engineer – Strads, you will play a critical role in delivering autonomous straddle carrier technology as part of the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Transformation Project. Based onsite in Bremerhaven, Germany, you will serve as the technical authority for the deployment, integration, commissioning, and operationalisation of Autonomous Straddle Carrier (AutoSC) solutions. Working closely with operations, engineering, product, IT, and project teams, you will ensure automation systems are successfully integrated into live terminal operations while maintaining business continuity and operational excellence. What We Can Offer At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Contribute to the deployment of advanced autonomous vehicle technology within one of APM Terminals' flagship terminal transformation programmes. Collaborate with global product, engineering, operations, and technology teams on complex automation initiatives. Develop expertise in operational technology, industrial automation, and autonomous equipment deployment within a global organisation. Work in an international environment where innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement are central to project success. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end deployment of Autonomous Straddle Carrier (AutoSC) solutions, including site preparation, installation, commissioning, testing, go-live, and operational stabilisation. Oversee the integration of AutoSC solutions with terminal assets, operational systems, fleet management platforms, Equipment Control Systems (ECS), and Terminal Operating Systems (TOS). Manage automation-related technologies, including PLCs, Remote I/O, safety systems, sensors, positioning systems, communications infrastructure, and vehicle control systems. Support deployment planning, risk management, testing activities, and validation processes, ensuring technical deliverables meet project requirements and acceptance criteria. Provide technical guidance during deployment activities, support knowledge transfer to terminal personnel, and remain engaged through operational stabilisation. Monitor technical risks, escalate issues where appropriate, and contribute to continuous improvement of deployment methodologies and automation practices. Proven experience in container terminal operations, port automation, and industrial automation deployment within complex project environments. Strong technical expertise in PLC programming (Siemens S7-300/1200/1500), SCADA systems (WinCC, Ignition), motion control systems, industrial communication protocols, and technologies including TOS, ECS, OPC UA, APIs, middleware, 5G, and cybersecurity. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities across automation, IT, mechanical, civil, and operational workstreams. Strong stakeholder management, technical problem-solving, project delivery, and change management skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
