Unposting Date: 2026-11-03 11:59 PM Looking for an opportunity to step into a leadership role and help a high performing local newsroom tell stories across southwestern Ontario? CBC London is hiring a multiplatform producer with journalism experience to produce the regional radio program Afternoon Drive and contribute to the successful operation of the newsroom in the afternoon and evening. Reporting to the executive producer, you work with reporters and hosts to ensure the biggest stories of the day are shared with our audience. You put yourself in the audience’s shoes and you’re constantly asking what they need and where they’re looking for it. You understand how to program for a live daily radio show with an ear and an eye for content that can be repurposed across platforms. You keep up with emerging trends, and you understand how to respond in a breaking news situation, and on days when there’s only good news to report. You are an experienced journalist and leader who knows how to work with high performance virtual teams. Nothing makes you happier than working with colleagues to develop original journalism that includes the various perspectives of people in both rural and urban southwestern Ontario. You will strive to broaden the range of perspectives and experiences reflected in our coverage, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. You have experience assigning and managing the work of others. You have excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills, are a strong planner and organizer, and are at ease with juggling multiple tasks and priorities at once. You care about the people you work with and have a recognized ability to coach and motivate others. You will ensure that all our work adheres to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and that it upholds our core principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. This role requires full-time, on-site presence in the CBC London newsroom. It will be scheduled with a late morning start time. Your responsibilities: Oversee the assignment and production of Afternoon Drive, including researching, gathering, writing, editing, vetting and packaging on-air content. Work with the producer team to organize and coordinate news coverage across all platforms, including making decisions about story priorities and rollouts, allocating resources and assigning staff, and providing editorial oversight to ensure our content is original, relevant and impactful, and meets our journalistic standards. Ensure assignments and content choices resonate with audiences in southwestern Ontario and align with CBC’s strategic objectives to connect with and grow audiences. Respond quickly to breaking news events – chasing, gathering, writing and packaging content across platforms. Create and curate lineups for digital and streaming platforms. Collaborate with other producers to coordinate coverage and ensure stories are shared with the widest possible audience. Participate in the planning of special projects and coverage plans. Cultivate and develop working relationships with a large pool of contacts and community members and participate in community engagement initiatives. Provide feedback and coaching to journalists to help them develop their skills and produce content of the highest quality. Your profile: Demonstrated experience producing a daily radio current affairs program in a fast-paced news environment. Strong journalistic and critical thinking skills, including knowledge of and familiarity with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices as well as the legal and ethical issues related to journalism. An unwavering focus on serving the needs of the audience and a passion for local news. Knowledge of and an interest in emerging storytelling formats and a willingness to embrace change and new tasks across all CBC platforms. Ability to manage and organize large volumes of fast-moving information and quickly redirect resources to meet priorities and objectives. Knowledge of and experience in assigning and creating content for all platforms (digital, video, social, audio, streaming) as well as vetting, editing, fact-checking and packaging. Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills under time constraints. A high-energy leader with a positive, team-first attitude and the demonstrated ability to motivate and coach teams, and encourage creativity. A strong proven connection to communities in southwestern Ontario, and a deep and nuanced understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives and lived experiences. University degree in journalism or equivalent with a minimum of five years of journalism experience. Possession of a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
