Medical Director – Bowdon Animal Hospital Lead with Purpose. Practice Great Medicine. Shape What Comes Next. Bowdon Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinarian to lead an established, well-respected practice into its next chapter. This is an opportunity to build on a strong foundation, support a talented team, and help shape the future of a hospital that has long been an important part of the Bowdon community. We’re looking for a leader who enjoys practicing excellent medicine, values collaboration, and wants to make a meaningful impact on both the veterinary team and the clients they serve. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your own leadership style, clinical interests, and ideas to a practice with an established clientele, dedicated team, and strong community roots. As Medical Director, you’ll remain hands-on in the medicine you enjoy while helping guide the hospital’s clinical direction and culture. Working alongside an experienced Hospital Manager and supportive operational and medical leadership, you will: Champion medical excellence by promoting high standards of patient care, clinical quality, and client experience. Lead and mentor a team of four veterinarians, encouraging collaboration, professional growth, and continued development. Guide clinical standards and protocols that support consistent, high-quality medicine. Partner with the Hospital Manager on team development, staffing, workflow, and the hospital’s overall priorities. Be a trusted clinical resource for associate veterinarians and veterinary students. Identify opportunities for growth by building on existing services, supporting areas of medical interest, and strengthening relationships within the community. Help grow the team through veterinarian recruiting, onboarding, and engagement. The Practice Bowdon Animal Hospital is a beautiful, custom-built 11,000-square-foot facility with a loyal client base, an established team, and a strong reputation for quality veterinary care. The hospital sees a varied and rewarding caseload that includes preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, urgent care, soft-tissue surgery, emergency stabilization, and select advanced procedures. This variety provides an opportunity to continue practicing the medicine you enjoy while supporting the professional interests and development of the team. Our facility is equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, advanced anesthetic monitoring, laser therapy, and a fully equipped surgical suite. We also utilize ScribbleVet and a paper-lite medical records system to help streamline documentation and give our doctors more time to focus on their patients. Just as important as our equipment is our team. You’ll find a collaborative support staff, a healthy doctor-to-technician ratio, and an environment where people enjoy working together. And when it’s time to recharge, you can truly disconnect. The hospital is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, with no on-call or after-hours responsibilities. We believe great veterinary medicine and a fulfilling life outside the hospital should go hand in hand. Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a veterinarian who leads by example, values teamwork, and understands that a successful hospital is built on both excellent medicine and strong relationships. You’re someone who is approachable, confident in your clinical judgment, and comfortable supporting the growth and development of others. You enjoy sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and creating an environment where veterinarians and support staff can do their best work. Previous leadership experience is certainly welcome, but it isn’t the only path to this opportunity. If you’re an experienced veterinarian who is ready to take the next step in your career and explore medical leadership, we’d love to start a conversation. Why Bowdon? This is an opportunity to build on something good—not start from scratch. Bowdon Animal Hospital has the foundation many veterinary leaders are looking for: an established clientele, an experienced team, a respected presence in the community, and the equipment and resources to support excellent medicine. You’ll have the opportunity to make your mark while preserving what already makes this practice special. You won’t be expected to walk in and turn the hospital upside down. Instead, you’ll have the support and flexibility to understand the team, identify opportunities, and help guide the practice toward its next stage of growth. Outside the hospital, Bowdon offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere, scenic countryside, and a close-knit community. Located near the Alabama border, it provides a quieter pace of life while keeping you within easy driving distance of Carrollton, where you’ll find additional dining, shopping, entertainment, recreation, and the University of West Georgia. Compensation & Benefits We believe great veterinary leaders deserve competitive compensation and meaningful support for the work they do. $150,000–$180,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus production bonuses Sign-on bonus opportunity of up to $100,000 Relocation assistance No negative accrual DVM Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Cash Program Comprehensive benefits package Leadership partnership and support from experienced operational and medical teams Ready to Lead Your Next Chapter? If you’re an experienced veterinarian who wants to make a difference as a leader without stepping away from the clinical work you love, Bowdon Animal Hospital offers an opportunity worth exploring. You’ll have the chance to build meaningful relationships, help a talented team thrive, and influence the future of an established practice—all while maintaining a healthy balance between your professional and personal life.
