At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. What if the next clinical trial you shaped went on to change how a disease is treated - forever? That's not a hypothetical here. At Bristol Myers Squibb, it's the everyday reality for the scientists who sit at the heart of our clinical development programmes. And right now, we're looking for one more. If you're a clinical scientist with deep therapeutic area expertise, a track record of delivering complex studies with rigour and precision, and the kind of scientific leadership presence that makes cross-functional teams better - this is a role worth stopping for. This isn't a supporting role. This is a defining one. As Director, Global Clinical Trial Physician, you'll be a core contributor to the Global Clinical Development Strategy for your assigned asset and indication - not executing someone else's vision, but actively helping to shape it. You'll bring the scientific depth, the regulatory knowledge and the cross-functional credibility to ensure that the clinical studies in your portfolio are designed well, run well and reported well. And when they are, patients get better data, regulators get cleaner submissions, and medicines get to the people who need them faster. That chain of consequence starts with the work you'll do here. What your days will actually look like and why each part matters Being the Scientific Authority Your Team Relies On You'll serve as the subject matter expert for the development, conduct and regulatory submission of clinical studies across your portfolio - from protocol development through to CSR review and validation. When you're the person in the room who knows - who can cut through ambiguity, answer the hard scientific questions and give the team the clarity they need to move forward - studies run better. Timelines hold. Quality improves. And that means patients aren't waiting longer than they need to. Shaping the Studies That Shape the Science You'll contribute meaningfully to clinical development plans, strategic discussions and the harmonisation of standards across programmes and indications - ensuring consistency, quality and alignment across everything in your book of work. Your input at this level doesn't just influence one study. It sets the standard for how BMS approaches an entire asset or indication and those standards have a long reach. The scientific decisions you help make today will still be influencing development programmes years from now. Owning the Data and What It Means You'll lead clinical oversight of study data - guiding teams in understanding CRF interdependencies, data conventions, review tools and visualisations, working in close collaboration with Data Management and Programming. This is where scientific rigour becomes tangible. Clean, well-understood, well-interpreted data is the foundation of every regulatory submission, every label claim, every prescribing decision a physician will make based on your trial. The integrity of the data you oversee translates directly into the integrity of the medicine's story. Leading When It Counts You may serve as Trial Lead for complex clinical studies — taking the helm on the kind of work that demands experience, judgment and the ability to hold a team together under pressure. There's a real career dimension here too. Leading complex, high-stakes global trials at Director level, with full cross-functional accountability, is exactly the kind of experience that builds the profile and confidence of a truly senior clinical leader. You'll come out of this with a portfolio of delivery that speaks for itself. Presenting with Authority - Inside and Out You'll present data and insights to internal and external stakeholders - including investigators, study staff and senior leadership - with the credibility and communication skills that come from deep scientific expertise. When you present externally to KOLs and investigators, you're representing BMS science at its highest level. The relationships you build here - with the investigators who run your studies, the KOLs who shape the field - are the kind that last careers. Making the Whole Function Better You'll partner with the CCOE Clinical Capabilities Team to lead and support process improvements and departmental training — sharing best practices, communicating lessons learned across teams and serving as peer coach and mentor to colleagues. This is the part of the role that multiplies your impact beyond your own portfolio. When you make the function smarter, faster and better, every study BMS runs benefits. Every patient in every trial benefits. What you'll bring Your experience and qualifications: Degree in Life Sciences - MD, PhD, PharmD, MS, RN or equivalent scientific discipline 10+ years of experience in Clinical R&D, including operating in a matrix environment Recognised expertise in your Therapeutic Area and/or Clinical Science function Advanced knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the full drug development lifecycle - from discovery through to registration Strong understanding of study design, statistics, clinical operations and the regulatory environment Experience with protocol development, data review, CSR validation and regulatory documentation Your strengths Scientific depth: You know your therapeutic area at an expert level and you know how to apply that knowledge to make studies stronger, safer and more insightful Data-driven: You have advanced skills in scientific data review, trend identification, interpretation and reporting - you don't just read data, you understand what it's telling you Influential communicator: You present complex scientific information with clarity and confidence to audiences at every level - from study coordinators to senior leadership to external KOLs Genuinely collaborative: You don't operate in silos - you actively build the cross-functional relationships that make complex global programmes run smoothly Proactive and results-driven: You anticipate issues before they become problems, plan for what's coming, and drive delivery with a quiet but consistent determination Committed to quality: You hold yourself and your work to the highest scientific and regulatory standards because you understand what's at stake if you don't Adaptable under pressure: Global clinical development is complex, fast-moving and full of competing priorities and you handle that with professionalism and composure A developer of others: You share what you know, coach those around you and genuinely invest in making your colleagues better scientists and better professionals Why BMS? Why this role? Because BMS is one of the most innovative biopharmaceutical companies on the planet — with a pipeline and a portfolio that gives our clinical scientists genuinely fascinating, career-defining work to do. You'll operate at the intersection of scientific rigour, strategic thinking and human impact — with the freedom to lead, the support to succeed, and the knowledge that what you're working on matters in the most fundamental way possible. The studies you help design, run and submit will contribute to the evidence base that determines how diseases are treated. The science you help generate will inform clinical practice for years, potentially decades, to come. That's not just a job. That's a legacy.
