In this hands-on engineering internship, you will investigate the feasibility of timber structures for industrial platforms. You will create innovative 3D designs, establish clear structural principles, and evaluate the full operational impact on engineering, costs, and lead times. Your research and practical insights will directly shape Vanderlande’s next steps toward sustainable platform design. Department Description You will join the Steel Competence Team within the Engineering Department of Domain Distribution. Our specialized team plays a pivotal role in delivering key projects for global market leaders such as Amazon, DHL, and UPS during both sales and execution phases. We design complex platforms, coordinate with international suppliers, provide expert structural advice, and partner with cost engineers to budget major steelwork projects. Working alongside multidisciplinary project teams and sales experts, you will gain firsthand experience in high-impact industrial engineering within a dynamic global environment. Tasks/Responsibilities Create innovative 3D designs for timber platform structures as sustainable alternatives to steel Perform structural safety and performance analyses on timber concepts Define technical requirements and design principles to support future procurement Evaluate trade-offs and document findings on engineering, cost, and process impacts Formulate clear recommendations and strategic next steps for implementation Your Profile Solid knowledge of structural engineering principles in steel and timber. Proficient with structural analysis software (preferably Scia Engineer), AutoCAD or Tekla. Creative, solution-oriented mindset with an enterprising and curious attitude.
