What you’ll be doing:
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support residents to live with comfort, dignity, and independence, delivering care that is respectful, safe, and genuinely person-centred. You’ll focus on building trusting relationships and creating a calm, supportive environment where residents feel listened to, valued, and cared for.
You will:
- Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort
- Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration
- Observe and respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately
- Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau
- Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence
- Follow individual care plans and work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure consistent, high-quality care
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and your wider team
- Take responsibility for health, safety, and infection control practices to keep everyone safe
Requirements
What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver or similar care role.
- A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to caring for older adults
- Clear communication skills and a strong team-focused mindset
- A commitment to safety, dignity, and resident-centred care
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, that may include weekends and night shifts
