We are looking for a Head of English for a bilingual school based in Jurong, Jiangsu province. This position is available from the 2026-27 academic year in August 2026.

Located in Jurong, Jiangsu, just outside Nanjing, this privately run K–12 day and boarding school offers a dual-track model combining the Chinese curriculum with international and fusion programmes, including IB and Cambridge pathways. The school serves around 1,500 students with over 200 teachers, including more than 10 expat staff. The campus is modern and well-resourced, with a strong emphasis on whole-person education, global perspectives and academic achievement. Expat teachers typically work in the international or fusion sections in English-medium classrooms alongside bilingual Chinese colleagues, teaching motivated, university-bound students and contributing to a broad co-curricular programme in arts, sports and STEAM.
Job responsibilities
- Lead the English subject area across relevant grade levels, with a focus on secondary and high school students, including Grades 9-12
- Teach English Language and Literature or related English courses using the IB MYP, Cambridge or school-based international curriculum framework
- Support curriculum planning, lesson design, assessment development and academic standards within the English department
- Coordinate with English teachers and bilingual colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching quality, student progress and departmental expectations
- Monitor students’ academic progress and provide targeted support to improve learning outcomes
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to students, parents and caregivers
- Support student care, pastoral management and student behaviour guidance where required
- Help organize English-related academic activities, reading programmes, competitions, enrichment activities and school events
- Contribute to teacher mentoring, classroom observations, team meetings and professional development within the department
- Work closely with school leadership on academic planning, curriculum improvement and whole-school English development
- Develop a supportive, safe and engaging learning environment for students
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in English, Literature, Education or a related subject
- Teaching qualification preferred
- Relevant secondary or high school English teaching experience
- Experience with IB MYP, IGCSE, A-Level, Cambridge or international curriculum preferred
- Previous experience as Head of English, English Coordinator, Subject Lead or similar academic management role preferred
- Experience in student management, pastoral care, behaviour guidance or student activities is an advantage
- Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills
