Job Description:
King City Gardens is seeking an experienced HVAC Lead to help strengthen and develop our in-house maintenance team. This role is ideal for a seasoned HVAC professional with commercial or industrial experience who is ready to bring their technical expertise and leadership skills into the cannabis manufacturing industry.
The HVAC Lead will oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical HVAC and environmental control systems that support facility operations and production quality. Working alongside the existing HVAC Technician, this role will help improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and decrease reliance on outside HVAC contractors while maintaining consistent environmental conditions throughout the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and maintain rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and humidity control equipment.
- Support building automation systems and environmental controls to maintain required temperature and humidity conditions.
- Partner with the existing HVAC Technician to develop and strengthen KCG’s in-house HVAC maintenance program.
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize outside contractor expenses.
- Coordinate HVAC repairs, maintenance priorities, and equipment needs with facility leadership and the Automations team.
- Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure work follows applicable codes, regulations, safety practices, and company SOPs.
- Assist with general facility maintenance and respond to urgent equipment issues as needed.
Requirements
Requirements:
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical maintenance efforts.
- Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Ability to coordinate maintenance priorities and support facility operations.
Required Skills:
- Advanced HVAC troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and environmental controls.
- Ability to identify mechanical, electrical, and system control issues.
- Leadership, team development, and technical training.
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
- Previous experience as a Lead Journeyman, Lead Foreman, or Senior HVAC Technician.
Preferred Skills:
- Building automation system (BAS) troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Knowledge of humidity control, dehumidification systems, and environmental monitoring.
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve HVAC system performance and efficiency.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, and exhaust systems.
- Experience in cannabis manufacturing, cultivation, or other climate-controlled industrial environments.
- Experience developing in-house maintenance programs or reducing reliance on external contractors.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform hands-on maintenance for extended periods.
- Ability to safely use ladders and access HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, as needed.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and different facility environments.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment.
- Ability to respond to urgent maintenance issues as needed.
Division of Cannabis Control Requirements
- Must be 21+, pass a background check, and obtain and maintain a DCC employee badge.
- Ability to meet background screening requirements consistent with Ohio cannabis industry standards.
