Job Title: Direct Support Professional
Duties & Responsibilities: As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be a crucial part of our mission by delivering personalized, compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Your role will include:
- Providing direct care: Assist individuals with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
- De-escalation Management: Implement strategies that foster positive behaviors and reduce challenging ones, helping individuals thrive in a safe environment.
- Empowering Participation: Support individuals in engaging in social and recreational activities that enhance their quality of life.
- Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, progress, and goals to ensure individuals receive the best care possible.
Qualifications: To thrive in this role, you’ll need a passion for helping others and a dedication to making a difference. We’re looking for candidates who are:
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications or education in social work, nursing, or related fields is a plus.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and the ability to implement them effectively.
- A valid Driver's License with reliable transportation and insurance to travel to client homes or community events.
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed, and work physically demanding tasks (specific lifting requirements may vary).
- Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor: Your heart should be as strong as your commitment to providing care.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
