Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).

$30–34/HR

Lansdowne Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment — running rooms, managing anesthesia, supporting surgical caseloads, and communicating with clients at a high clinical level. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. Training is considered for the right candidate.

In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety in their day, are confident moving between exam room and procedure support, and want to fully utilize their clinical knowledge, technical skillset, and client communication abilities in a collaborative general practice environment.

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $30 - $34 per hour, for each hour worked
  • Schedule: This is a full-time or part-time position with a flexible schedule — options include 4 x 10 or 5 x 8 shifts with days that vary based on coverage needs. Rotating weekend availability may be required. No on-call requirements.

Full-time Benefits Package*:

  • Bonus package: $2000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of Virginia
  • CE allowance: $500-$1,000 based on tenure and credentials
  • Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k with company match
  • Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law
  • Personal pet discount

*Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 2+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standing Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Virginia**
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
    • Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
    • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
    • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
    • Radiology positioning and safety protocols
    • Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
    • Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques
    • Client education and communication
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong critical thinking and attention to detail

**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
