Plata Card

Colombia

Chief Financial Officer.

LEADERSHIPFINANCE & LEGAL

We are launching Plata’s operations in Colombia from scratch — and the finance function will be at the heart of this journey. Everything is being built from the ground up: the financial model, processes, reporting infrastructure, control environment, and relationships with regulators, banks, and partners.

As Chief Financial Officer, you will shape and lead the financial strategy for our Colombian business as it scales into a licensed financial institution. You will be a key business partner to the local and Group leadership teams, ensuring the company has the financial discipline, capital readiness, and governance needed to grow responsibly in a highly regulated environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone excited by building: establishing a high-performing local finance function, creating scalable planning and reporting processes, leading the finance workstream of the SFC licensing process, and acting as a trusted representative of Plata with regulators, investors, auditors, and financial partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall financial strategy of the company, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis across all business units.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and Colombia GAAP accounting standards, maintaining accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Oversee reporting processes and standards for Colombia regulators
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders: banks, auditors, regulators, and investors.
  • Develop and execute capital structure strategy, ensuring optimal balance between debt and equity financing.
  • Supervise treasury operations, liquidity management, and capital allocation to support business growth.
  • Provide strategic support for fundraising activities and investor relations, as needed
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and multiple stakeholders across the organization to drive business performance.
  • Ensure sound tax planning and oversee financial risk management.
  • Monitor and improve unit economics, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Act as a strong leader, recruiting, mentoring, and developing the finance team, while also being hands-on when needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a financial leadership role within banking.
  • A solid understanding of a bank’s balance sheet, key regulatory ratios, accounting of securities portfolios, loans, and hedge accounting principles.
  • Expertise in FP&A and forecasting to enhance regional sophistication around trends and future opportunities.
  • The ability to build a bank's P&L and balance sheet (with key ratios) model from scratch.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks
  • Experience in treasury and corporate taxation – highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

Our ways of working:

  • Innovative Spirit: A commitment to creativity and groundbreaking solutions
  • Honest Feedback: Valuing open, transparent communication
  • Supportive Team: A strong, collaborative community
  • Celebrating Achievements: Recognizing our wins together
  • High-Tech Environment: A team full of smart and revolutionary people who dare to challenge the status quo of incumbent finances

Our benefits:

  • Relocation support to our hub in Colombia, with assistance for the employee and their family
  • Flexible work from one of our offices or remote
  • Healthcare Coverage
  • Education Budget: Language lessons, professional training and certifications
  • Wellness Budget: Mental health and fitness activity reimbursements
  • Vacation Policy: Annual leave and paid sick leave as per applicable policies
