The role We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Services team in Christchurch. In this role, you'll contribute to the design, development, deployment, and support of scalable, highly available cloud-based systems that power our products and services, working closely with a cross-functional team to deliver reliable solutions for our customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality, production-ready software solutions. Design and implement scalable backend services and cloud-native applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver new capabilities. Break down complex technical challenges and contribute to practical, maintainable solutions. Create and maintain software designs and technical documentation aligned with engineering standards and security best practices. Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and peer feedback activities to maintain code quality and promote knowledge sharing. Build and support integrations across desktop applications, cloud services, and customer-facing web applications. Contribute to Agile delivery practices while continuously learning, improving, and sharing knowledge with the team. Support operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. To be successful in this role, you should have: 5+ years of experience in software engineering. Solid hands-on Python experience. Some experience working with cloud platforms. Some demonstrable experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with others. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Our technology stack: Services and serverless functions built primarily in Python and Java. A range of AWS and GCP services. Automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions and infrastructure-as-code practices. Monitoring, observability, and operational tooling including Datadog. Additional Information Office-based working environment, work from our Christchurch office three or more days per week.
