Join Aampere, a seed-stage, VC-backed startup redefining the European market for used electric vehicles. Since our launch, we’ve enabled EV owners to sell their cars quickly and seamlessly within 48 hours, while giving dealers across Europe access to previously untapped customer segments.Our team comes from the German startup ecosystem, with experience at Autarc, Greenforce, Cardino, Wemolo, Remberg, Alasco, Porsche, Mercedes, and KPMG.
Your Mission
Product Engineer is an engineering role, not product management. You spend your days in the codebase, but you also decide what goes into it: you spot the problem, define what good looks like, ship the code and own the metric that tells you whether it worked. You don’t wait for a spec to land on your board. You dig into data, talk to Product and users and help shape what gets built, and when no one has written the spec, you write it yourself. You build features end to end, frontend to backend, own how they behave in production and know when fast is the wrong trade-off.
Aampere buys and resells vehicles, so every feature you ship touches a margin, a conversion rate or a dealer relationship. You pick a slice of the product and own its KPIs, whether that’s seller funnel conversion, dealer activation or platform reliability, and you use your business understanding to help prioritize the roadmap. You work shoulder to shoulder with Product, Design and the rest of engineering and carry ideas from a first conversation all the way to something users feel. As our first Product Engineer, you also help define what this role looks like at Aampere and what we’ll expect from every engineer who joins after you.
What you bring
- Product thinking: you’ve shipped features you helped define and can turn a rough problem into a spec, code and a measurable result
- Confident across the stack with Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind on the frontend and Nest.js, PostgreSQL, REST APIs and Docker on the backend
- Business and data fluency: you want to understand unit economics, dealer relationships and funnel metrics, and pull your own numbers via PostHog, Metabase or SQL
- Experience in a small, high-ownership team, with an end-to-end, low-ego, high-accountability way of working. We’re open on seniority for the right mindset
- AI-native development, from prompting to validating and debugging AI-generated code
- Clear, direct communication in English, including pushing back on a ticket, spec or deadline when it doesn’t hold up
Nice to have
- Experience with marketplaces or two-sided platforms
- Enjoy raising the bar in code review and improving how the team works
- German skills

- ... you want to join a mature engineering org with established playbooks. We’re writing ours right now.
- … you need a finished plan before you start. Seed stage means a lot is unclear and changes week to week. You have to be comfortable making decisions in the dark and correcting course as you go.
- … you want to stay in your lane. “That is not my job” is not a thing here. You jump in where it matters, even when it sits outside your job description.
- … you want a classic 9-to-5. We are building something big, and that does not happen on the side. The people here want to go all in, not just put in the time.
