SECURITY

Company Overview:

ANSER enhances national and homeland security by strengthening public institutions. We provide thought leadership for complex issues through independent analysis, and we deliver practical, useful solutions. ANSER values collaboration, integrity, and initiative and we are client focused in all that we do. Because we were established for the purpose of public service and not for profit, we measure our success in the impact of our service.

Interested in joining ANSER as a Policy Program Analyst or Policy Specialist, but don’t see a current opening that matches your experience?

We’d still love to connect with you! Please send us your resume, and we’ll keep your information on file for future opportunities that align with your background and expertise.

As a Policy Program Analyst or Policy Specialist at ANSER, you’ll support high-impact programs by conducting in-depth research, analyzing policy and strategy, and delivering actionable recommendations to government clients and internal stakeholders.

Most roles are based in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area and require on-site work five days a week. Some roles may offer hybrid or remote options, but this is considered on a case-by-case basis and is not the norm.

General Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to evaluate policies, programs, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Draft reports, white papers, briefings, and decision support materials for senior leadership and government partners.
  • Monitor legislative, policy, and strategic developments relevant to client missions.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, analysts, and program managers to assess the impact of policy initiatives.
  • Develop and present findings and recommendations to clients, ensuring alignment with mission goals and national strategy.
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement of program operations.
  • Support strategic planning efforts, stakeholder engagement, and interagency coordination activities.
  • Other duties as required

General Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, international affairs, public administration, or a related field. Master’s degree required for some senior level opportunities.
  • 3+ years of experience in policy and or program support, analysis, program evaluation, or strategic planning supporting government, defense, homeland security, or intelligence communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal and defense polices, processes and organizational interdependencies.
  • Strong research, writing, and briefing skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics to varied audiences.
  • Familiarity with government policy development, legislative processes, and interagency coordination.
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools such as SharePoint or Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in dynamic team environments under tight deadlines.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required depending on the position.
