Hedge & Derivatives Accountant.

FINANCE & LEGAL£65K–76K/YR

We are looking for a technically strong Hedge & Derivatives Accountant to play a key role in delivering the Group's first hedge accounting programme. Reporting to the Derivatives Controller, you will take ownership of derivative accounting, valuation, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS 9 and IFRS 13 across a diverse portfolio of financial hedges, PPAs, and intercompany power contracts. Working closely with Finance, Risk, Trading, and Front Office teams, you will translate complex trading activity into accurate financial reporting while supporting the continued development of the Group's hedge accounting framework.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical accountant who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to help shape a growing and evolving hedging function.

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post-qualification experience in derivatives or financial instruments accounting, ideally within the energy, utilities or commodities sector;

  • Proven hands-on experience of IFRS 9 hedge accounting, including hedge designation and documentation, effectiveness testing, cash flow hedges, and accounting for OCI reserves;

  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS 9, IFRS 13 and IFRS 7, including fair value measurement, financial instrument disclosures, own-use exemption, and fair value option elections;

  • Experience accounting for and reporting on derivative financial instruments, with a good understanding of products such as PPAs, forwards, and power contracts, and their treatment under IFRS 9.

What sets us apart?

  • Global Impact: With offices in the UK, US, and Australia, and plans for further expansion, you'll be part of a dynamic, globally-minded team, with opportunities to explore new markets and make a difference on a global scale.

  • Flexible Working: Embrace the freedom to work from anywhere in the world for up to 30 days a year. We prioritize work-life balance, recognizing that your well-being matters. Find out more here.

  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: We celebrate our diverse culture and value individuals irrespective of background, disability, religion, gender identity, sexuality, or ethnicity. Join a team where diversity is not just welcomed but celebrated as a key driver of growth and innovation.

What does hybrid working mean to us?
