The opportunity
Our client is an international B2B sportsbook technology business with R&D in Bulgaria, powering operators across Europe and Latin America. The business is entering a defined transformation period: strengthening the foundations of its product and operation with senior leaders, AI and automation ahead of its next phase of growth.
This role will lead the product team and own the future of the product function. Working directly alongside engineering and R&D in Sofia, you will shape how ideas become specifications, builds and releases - and define how product management should operate when AI-assisted engineering completes an increasing share of the build.
The sportsbook platform is already live in production. The opportunity is to extend and optimise it: broadening API coverage, supporting new backend capabilities such as bet builder, cash-out, live betting, personalisation and settlement, and making the platform easier for operators to build on.
What you'll own
- Lead the product team day to day and own the full journey from idea and specification through to build and release.
- Define the product operating model for an AI-first environment, including specification, prototyping and validation alongside AI-assisted engineering.
- Extend and optimise the sportsbook platform, including API coverage, new feature support, versioning, developer experience and documentation.
- Deliver a tier-one capability audit: a feature-by-feature comparison against leading operators, mapped to backend features and platform APIs, with a sequenced plan to close priority gaps.
- Own the roadmap and prioritisation process in partnership with operators, Trading and Engineering.
- Represent the product with key operators and prospective clients.
What success looks like
- The product-to-R&D cycle is visibly faster, higher quality and clearly owned.
- A tier-one capability audit is completed in the first quarter, with priority gaps moving into build against clear dates.
- New backend features and platform API releases are shipped and adopted by operators in production.
- A practical product operating model for the AI era is established and becomes a model for other functions.
- The commercial team has a clear, credible roadmap it can sell against.
What we're looking for
- A senior product leader who has built products directly with engineering and R&D teams, working in the detail of specifications and technical trade-offs.
- Deep experience of product and R&D process, including building and managing product teams and improving the development process itself - not only owning roadmaps.
- A clear, practised view of how product management changes when AI completes much of the build, with the ambition to define that model in practice.
- An AI-first approach, using AI tooling as the default for specification, prototyping and validation and expecting the same across the team.
- Commercial confidence with operators and the judgement to balance scope, value and revenue.
- Sportsbook or betting experience would be valuable, but is not essential where the product and R&D credentials are exceptional.
