Tech lead/ Staff Full Stack Engineer.

FULL TIMEREMOTESTAFF LEVELENGINEERING

SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Full Stack Tech Lead to help build an end-to-end forecasting platform that brings machine learning into practical, user-facing applications.

This role combines approximately 50% hands-on development with technical leadership and delivery coordination. You will guide technical decisions, manage incoming demands and help the team turn requirements into clear, deliverable work. People management is not part of the role.

You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, React and NestJS, building distributed applications running on AWS ECS with Fargate, with a strong focus on automated testing, reliability and collaboration.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:

As part of an agile software development team, you will:

  • Developing and maintaining frontend applications using React and TypeScript, alongside backend services built with Node.js and NestJS.
  • Providing technical direction while remaining actively involved in coding, code reviews and problem-solving.
  • Managing technical demands, clarifying requirements, coordinating priorities and breaking down complex work into achievable deliverables.
  • Collaborating with product stakeholders and engineers to identify dependencies, resolve blockers and keep delivery moving.
  • Designing and evolving distributed systems using Amazon SQS for messaging and EventBridge for event-driven workflows.
  • Building and running containerised services on AWS ECS with Fargate.
  • Developing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases and application data access.
  • Building automated tests using Vitest and Playwright, applying sound judgement across unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
  • Monitoring application health and investigating production issues using Datadog.
  • Integrating forecasting models into application workflows that support automation and user interaction.
  • Applying AI-assisted engineering practices to improve development and testing while maintaining quality.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React and NestJS.
  • Proven technical leadership experience, combining practical development with architectural decisions and delivery ownership.
  • The ability to manage incoming demands, clarify scope, coordinate priorities and guide work through to completion.
  • Experience building distributed and event-driven systems, including Amazon SQS and EventBridge.
  • Hands-on experience with containerised applications running on AWS ECS with Fargate.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL.
  • A strong commitment to automated testing, with practical experience using Playwright and Vitest or a similar testing framework.
  • Experience using Datadog for application monitoring and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience using AI tools within the software development lifecycle, with appropriate review and validation.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and clear communication, with the confidence to take ownership and work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previous experience developing forecasting, predictive analytics or other applications powered by machine learning.
  • An understanding of how applications interact with machine learning models to deliver user-facing features. Dedicated MLOps expertise is not required.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Be part of our collegial environment where responsibility and authority are shared equally amongst colleagues and help create our company culture.
  • A culture in which we don’t criticise failure but ensure we learn from our mistakes
  • An Agile environment where your ideas are welcome
  • The possibility to grow and experience different projects
  • Ongoing Training & Mentoring
  • The possibility of travelling
