About The Role

Sydney Harbour welcomes visitors from every corner of the world, and you could be the first person they meet. Captain Cook Cruises is looking for a Ticket Seller who loves people, enjoys a buzz and takes pride in making every guest feel welcome.

Based at our wharf ticketing locations across Sydney Harbour and reporting to the Reservations Manager, you’ll set the tone for the whole cruise. Day to day, you’ll:

  • Sell ferry and cruise tickets using our point-of-sale systems, handling EFTPOS accurately and securely
  • Help guests choose the experience that suits them, with clear, confident advice on timetables, directions and boarding
  • Chat with guests from all walks of life and make everyone feel looked after, whether it’s their first visit to Sydney or their fiftieth
  • Share your love of the harbour and recommend cruises, packages and special offers
  • Keep queues moving and work with our operational teams for smooth vessel turnarounds and on-time departures
  • Set up and pack down the ticketing area, keeping it tidy and presented to company standards
  • Work safely, wear your uniform with pride and report hazards early

What makes this role special is the setting. You’ll work at the water’s edge, in the heart of one of the world’s most photographed harbours, where every shift brings new faces, new languages and new stories.

About You

You’re a natural people person: warm, patient and confident talking with all kinds of guests, including those for whom English is a second language. You stay calm and courteous when it gets busy, and you take care with the details, from timetables to transactions. You’re reliable and punctual, and you’re happy to work independently or as part of a team. You’re also comfortable standing for long periods, working outdoors in varied weather and rotating across wharf locations, including weekends and public holidays.

Previous customer service experience in a busy, face-to-face setting is highly regarded, as is experience in tourism, hospitality or transport. What matters most is a great attitude and a genuine love of looking after people.
