We are looking for a passionate Asset Optimization Community Lead (m/f/x) who wants to help build the most innovative energy trading platform on the planet.
As part of our Trading Technology function, you will lead the Asset Optimization Community, responsible for developing and maintaining automated trading algorithms that optimize customers’ grid-scale batteries and other flexible renewable energy assets. You will create the conditions for our teams to deliver robust, high-quality optimization solutions across energy markets and asset types, balancing customer needs, commercial opportunities and product delivery priorities.
In this people-focused leadership role, you will lead and develop Team Leads, strengthen technical capabilities and ensure that engineering capacity, priorities and commitments remain clear and realistic. Combining technical credibility with sound judgement and a delivery mindset, you will empower highly skilled optimization engineers to do their best work, foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and enable the community to deliver reliable solutions at pace without compromising quality or sustainable workloads.
Note: We can only consider candidates based in Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, and the UK (or open to relocation to one of these countries, provided the candidate holds the right to work).

As Asset Optimization Community Lead, you will
Lead and grow the community: Line manage Team Leads, support their development and build a culture of ownership, collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
Set priorities and enable delivery: Balance engineering capacity and competing demands across product development, new markets, customer pilots and live operations, working closely with Product and Delivery
Champion engineering excellence: Set expectations for software quality, reliability and safe operation, helping teams continuously improve their algorithms and engineering practices
Provide technical direction: Bring sound judgement to complex optimization challenges, support technical decision-making and strengthen expertise across the community without becoming a bottleneck
Connect technology and business: Work with Product, Delivery, Trading Operations and Business Development to align technical capabilities with customer needs and commercial opportunities
Embrace new ways of working: Encourage the thoughtful use of AI-assisted and agentic development tools to improve productivity, quality and innovation
How you fit into the team
You're passionate about the energy transition and enjoy helping talented technical people do their best work. You bring
Proven experience leading specialist technical teams, developing people and managing performance.
Strong planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance capacity, business growth and operational demands.
A solid understanding of optimization, mathematical algorithms or quantitative software, allowing you to challenge approaches and engage credibly with technical experts.
Experience delivering and operating reliable software in a business-critical environment.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to navigate competing priorities, make trade-offs transparent and align diverse stakeholders.
A coaching mindset that empowers others, encourages knowledge sharing and builds expertise beyond individual specialists.
It's a plus if you also have
Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), revenue optimization, European power markets or multi-market trading platforms.
A background in algorithm development, backtesting, customer pilots or market launches.
Experience scaling teams and engineering practices in a fast-growing technology business.

Along with the listed benefits that are part of the overall compensation package, the salary for this role is aligned with a band starting at EUR 95,000, with the actual salary determined based on the experience and skills brought to the position.
