Stop managing projects, and start transforming a business.
Most project managers spend their careers moving tasks through someone else’s system. This one builds the system.
At PlanITROI, you get a seat at the table and a direct line to executive leadership. Your ideas don’t sit in a slide deck. They show up on the floor next week and in the financials next quarter.
We’re building the world’s greatest repair and refurbishment facility in Youngsville, North Carolina. Not the biggest. The best run. A facility where technology drives productivity and every device recovers its highest value through reuse-as-intended-use. We’re redesigning repair lines, deploying AI visual identification, and piloting robotics. You’ll lead the projects that make it real. For more than 25 years, PlanITROI has recovered value from retired IT devices through reuse, repair, refurbishment, and IT lifecycle services. We’re founder-led, so decisions happen fast, and you see your impact up close.
You’ll lead the projects that make it real!
We’re seeking an A-Player who walks into complexity and walks out with clarity, someone who would rather build what’s next than maintain the status quo.
The Center of Excellence Projects
You will drive the execution of priority Center of Excellence (COE) projects from approved scope through completion, on time and on budget. You bring the right experts together to build the plan, own the coordination, visibility, follow-through, and escalation that keep delivery moving. The functional and technical owners remain responsible for the solutions and their deliverables.
Your first wins are already mapped out
Laptop Repair Area
Lead the redesign and expansion of the laptop repair area, working with operations and facilities teams to approve the plan and set milestones that keep daily production running during the buildout.
AI Visual Identification System
Lead the pilot of our AI Visual Identification System at the Receiving (ROE) dock, prove it works, and then roll it out across the facility. You’ll coordinate the IS, technical, and operations teams to launch the pilot, validate the results, and evaluate performance. Once rollout is approved, you’ll own the milestones and keep the deployment on schedule.
The Warehouse Layout
Drive cross-functional planning, decisions, and execution of an optimized material-flow design from receiving to shipping.
The force that connects everyone
You connect the on-site Operations team, off-site SG&A teams (IS, IT, and Purchasing), and outside vendors around clear commitments. When the work stalls, you identify the accountable owner, build a recovery plan, and escalate decisions early.
The projects you will lead
EBITDA impact guides portfolio priorities, from repair operations to AI, robotics, and automation. You keep financial assumptions and the benefits visible while functional owners remain accountable for sustained operating results.
Where you will start
- Repair Area Expansion & Redesign: Bring together operations and engineering experts to scope, approve, and execute repair-floor improvements, including workstations and battery replacement lines, while production continues.
- Repair Ramp & Productivity: Drive the plan, owners, milestones, and reporting for operational initiatives intended to increase repairs per technician, reduce rework, improve quality, and increase sellable finished goods.
- Parts Management & Automation: Drive Purchasing, Operations, and IS owners to implement approved improvements to OEM part-number accuracy, purchasing automation, inventory organization, and parts availability.
- AI Visual Identification System: Manage the cross-functional delivery of the ROE pilot, with technical owners accountable for equipment identification, serial-number capture, cosmetic grading, and routing; coordinate any approved expansion.
- Warehouse Layout & Material Flow: Coordinate Operations and engineering owners to evaluate, approve, and implement material-flow optimization from receiving through ROE, WIP, repair, finished goods, and outbound shipping.
- Humanoid Robots & Physical AI: Coordinate a controlled, technically led pilot evaluating Tesla Optimus, NEO, or other options for material handling, sorting, loading, and unloading; track safety, reliability, costs, milestones, and go/no-go decisions. (This is a future pilot, not a deployed capability.)
What’s next
- Data Integrity & PlanITVision (WMS) Automation: Drive visibility, cross-functional milestones, and accountability for master-data improvements, RFID and asset-tracking initiatives, and real-time inventory visibility; IS and process owners define and implement technical solutions.
- AI-Powered Repair Training: Video and AI-assisted training that gets technicians productive faster on battery, keyboard, screen, and other repairs.
- Automated Inspection & Quality Control: Cameras and AI replace manual inspection steps and sharpen grading accuracy.
- Finished Goods & Shipping Automation: Testing, packaging, kitting, and fulfillment with less labor and fewer errors.
- COE Workforce & Leadership Development: Track milestones and accountable leaders for approved skills-based training and workforce accountability initiatives.
- Repair Training & Technician Recruitment: Coordinate HR and Operations owners to implement agreed repair-training and technician-recruitment initiatives, including skill challenges, certification levels, and scalable training.
- AI & Robotics Research with NC State University: Coordinate project scope, owners, milestones, and deliverables with NC State industrial engineering students and PlanITROI technical sponsors on workstation design, efficiency, and robotics feasibility.
- COE Project Management & Accountability: Maintain one project management system with approved budgets, milestones, owners, dependencies, issue logs, and weekly reviews across the prioritized portfolio.
What you will own
- The plan: You facilitate scope, deliverables, accountable owners, milestones, dependencies, and acceptance criteria with the relevant functional experts, and obtain leadership approval before execution.
- The budget: You maintain approved budgets, flag variances and risks, and coordinate with Finance and project sponsors to track the business case and verified benefits.
- The people: Coordinate and drive COE Operations, IS, IT, Purchasing, and NC State owners around explicit commitments, mostly without direct authority. Follow up, challenge delays, and escalate unresolved ownership or resource conflicts.
- The vendors: Onboard and run every new vendor, from CTL to camera, AI software, and robotics suppliers, with clear targets and unit-level reporting.
- The problems: Detect blockers and dependencies early, assign resolution owners, track corrective actions, and escalate decisions before they become missed commitments.
- The floor: Spend time in the repair area and warehouse validating actual progress against the plan, removing coordination barriers, and confirming that operational owners can implement improvements without disrupting output.
- The dashboard: Maintain one shared, accurate view of status, accountable owners, milestones, spend, benefits, dependencies, risks, decisions needed, recovery plans, and completed deliverables.
- The weekly reporting: Report what finished, what is late, what is over budget, what is blocked, who owns recovery, which leadership decisions are needed, and what is due next week.
How success is measured
Project value matters. You prioritize and report the EBITDA impact of approved initiatives, but your own performance is measured by predictable execution, milestone delivery, budget discipline, visibility, and issue resolution. Each project begins with an owner-approved business case and closes with formal acceptance and a benefits handoff to the functional owner.
Here’s what winning looks like
- Projects finished on time, on budget, and signed off by the owner
- Operational owners tracking intended gains in repairs per technician, sellable finished goods, and reduced rework
- Purchasing and Operations owners tracking improvements in shortages and ordering accuracy
- Every project deliverable with a named accountable owner, due date, and clear acceptance criteria
- Risks and missed commitments surfaced early, with agreed recovery actions and no need for repeated executive chasing
Your first 90 days
- Day 30: Understand the COE workflows and stakeholders, document all active projects in a prioritized portfolio and dashboard, clarify owners and decisions, and align the repair-area project plan with Operations.
- Day 60: Demonstrate disciplined execution and escalation on priority repair- area milestones and coordinate an approved ROE Visual Identification pilot plan and budget.
- Day 90: Present documented completion or progress against approved repair-area milestones, coordinate the Visual ID pilot against technical acceptance criteria, obtain a decision on the warehouse layout proposal, and demonstrate a repeatable portfolio reporting and accountability process.
Final targets depend on approved scope, budget, and resources.
How you work
- You own it: You are accountable for execution discipline from plan through closeout. When work slips, you understand the cause, engage the responsible owner, and drive a recovery decision.
- You are proactive: You proactively bring leadership clear status, options, tradeoffs, and recommended decisions rather than waiting for someone to chase the work.
- You find a way: The vendor, the part, the data, the person. You identify what’s needed, assign the right owner, and follow through until the situation is resolved.
- You decide: Act quickly within your delegated authority, and secure timely approval for technical, financial, or operational decisions that belong to the responsible experts or executives.
- You don’t stop: Track commitments to completion, address obstacles with the right owners, and escalate issues early when plans need to change.
- You lead the experts: IT, IS, Operations, AI, and robotics specialists own technical solutions. You align their commitments, timelines, dependencies, and handoffs without needing to be the technical expert.
