CONTRACTDEVOPS & INFRA

Open to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth | 12-month contract

At Ampol, we believe in the Power of Us - the extraordinary power of people to connect, act, and make a difference.

As a leading energy company operating across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and from the United States, our work spans fuel supply, energy solutions, convenience retail, infrastructure, trading and shipping. Every role at Ampol plays a part in something bigger - powering progress for our customers, communities, and people.

Your career here is yours to shape. We back our people with real opportunities, the tools to grow, and a culture that rewards ownership and initiative. Whether you’re deepening your expertise or taking on something new, we’ll support you to power a career that works for you.

We’re building a workplace where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued - because when people are free to be themselves, powerful things happen.

About Corporate Functions

Our Group teams enable the broader business to perform - providing strategic, financial, legal, people and governance expertise. With roles across Australia, Singapore and the US, we’re critical partners to the business and help shape Ampol’s future.

We work across borders, collaborate widely, and lead with purpose - always looking for ways to improve how we operate, support our people, and deliver results.

About the role

The Payroll Data & Transition Specialist is a dedicated payroll subject matter expert supporting project delivery of an ongoing integration. This is not a BAU payroll processing role. You will apply deep payroll knowledge in a project, systems and data environment, bridging payroll expertise with transition and integration requirements.

Working closely with payroll and project stakeholders, you will support preparation for bringing a payroll environment on board, with a strong focus on complex payroll data, systems, reconciliation, compliance and workforce change activity.

Key responsibilities

  • Extract, cleanse, transform and validate complex payroll data for project and system requirements.
  • Prepare accurate system upload files and support payroll data requirements across SAP, SuccessFactors, UKG and Excel.
  • Analyse and reconcile large or complex payroll datasets, identifying anomalies, risks and downstream impacts.
  • Perform redundancy and employee entitlement calculations with appropriate legislative and compliance consideration.
  • Interpret awards and assess their payroll impacts across relevant scenarios.
  • Undertake scenario modelling to understand payroll and workforce impacts.
  • Support remediation planning and analysis arising from payroll audit outcomes.
  • Provide payroll SME expertise across acquisition, integration, transition and workforce change activities.
  • Partner confidently across payroll, project and systems stakeholders to translate complex information into practical payroll outcomes.
  • Ensure payroll datasets are accurate, validated and fit for project and system use.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Deep end-to-end payroll knowledge, including payroll legislation, compliance and employee entitlements.
  • Strong hands-on SAP experience, ideally SAP ECC Payroll, SAP HCM or SAP HR.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong payroll data analysis capability.
  • Practical experience extracting, cleansing, transforming, validating and reconciling payroll data.
  • Demonstrated experience completing redundancy and entitlement calculations.
  • Strong practical award interpretation experience and the ability to apply requirements to payroll scenarios.
  • Payroll transition, acquisition, integration, implementation or transformation experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience interpreting payroll audit outcomes and supporting remediation planning and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and scenario modelling capability with high attention to data accuracy.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors and/or UKG is beneficial, alongside the critical SAP requirement.

Benefits

  • Our total remuneration is competitive.
  • We are flexible. Many of our teams have embraced hybrid work, balancing time spent remote working, with time spent at an office to connect and work together where it adds value.
  • We value recognition. We have an internal recognition platform amplifying the achievements of those who do great work and demonstrate our capabilities and values.
  • Career development and learning opportunities including LinkedIn Learning and other tailored training solutions.
