Utilizing a team nursing model, Patient Care Technicians partner closely with nurses and paramedics to provide exceptional patient care and support throughout the department. In addition to standard ER PCT responsibilities, team members have the opportunity to develop advanced skills such as straight sticks, splinting, and trauma support through comprehensive on-the-job training. PCTs rotate through a variety of roles, including direct patient care, unit support responsibilities, and, with advanced training, trauma tech functions. This position is ideal for nursing students, EMTs, aspiring firefighters, future PAs, and individuals pursuing trauma-related healthcare careers who are looking to gain experience in a high-acuity setting. Prior emergency department experience is strongly preferred but not required, as extensive training and development are provided. Responsibilities: Job Summary Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit. Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered. Essential Functions Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver.
