Health Economics Manager, CVRM.

Health Economics Manager, CVRM London, Pancras Square Introduction to the role: Do you have expertise in and passion for access submissions? Would you like to apply your expertise in a company that follows the science and turns ideas into life changing medicines? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you! As a Health Economics Manager in the Biopharmaceutical Business Unit (CVRM: Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolic), you will lead the delivery of health economic content for national Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions. This is a hands-on modelling role: you will build, adapt, and own the cost-utility and budget impact models that convey the value of AstraZeneca medicines and help secure national-level patient access. Reporting to the Head of Market Access, CVRM, you will partner with the UK Market Access function, the Medical Directorate, Brand Marketing teams (as well as broader UK-based cross functional teams), and the Global Health Economics & Payer Evidence team. Accountabilities: - Develop, tailor, and deliver health economic analyses for health technology appraisals (75%) Cost-Utility and Budget Impact Modelling: Take a hands-on approach to tailoring final deliverables to UK HTA needs, including developing budget impact analyses and adapting cost-utility models in Microsoft Excel. Global HEOR Collaboration: Work with the global HEOR function to shape cost-utility analysis models, systematic literature reviews, network meta-analyses, and other payer-related materials for HTA. Strategic Input: Provide strategic input into pricing strategy, evidence needs, and related decisions. Prior Appraisal Research: Research prior appraisals to understand relevant considerations. Submissions: Write the cost-effectiveness sections for submissions to NICE, SMC, and AWMSG, working collaboratively with UK Market Access colleagues and the Medical team. Technical Responses: Provide high-quality responses to technical assessor questions, including model-related queries. Committee Representation: Represent AstraZeneca to a high standard at appraisal committee meetings. Outsourcing: Manage the outsourcing of some aspects, as needed. Ensure deliverables are of high quality. - Develop early cost-effectiveness analyses for future brands and indications (20%) Early Modelling: Build early cost-effectiveness models based on the target product profile to inform national market access feasibility assessments, support the internal forecasting process, and feed into global-led consultations. Prior Appraisal Research: Research prior appraisals to understand relevant considerations. - Business partnering on priority brands (5%) Brand and Therapy Area Knowledge: Develop strong brand and therapy area knowledge to support Brand Marketing Teams, taking the time to understand their needs. Cross-Functional Planning: Contribute to strategic and operational planning within cross-functional teams. - Performance indicators: HTA outcomes versus expectations, feedback from internal customers, and performance versus goals. Essential Requirements: Modelling Expertise (Key Requirement): Proven ability to develop cost-utility analysis and budget impact models in Microsoft Excel. VBA: Working knowledge (or above) of Microsoft VBA. Education: Postgraduate qualification in health economics. HTA Experience: 3+ years of experience developing HE content for HTA submissions, in either a HEOR agency or the pharmaceutical industry. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong written skills. Delivery and Collaboration: Demonstrable record of collaborative working and personal delivery to agreed timelines. Prioritization: Ability to prioritize effectively based on business need. Capability Building: Experience training non-Health Economists in the effective delivery of HE outputs. Desirable Requirements: Education: First degree in economics, life sciences, mathematics, or similar. Supplier Management: Experience managing external suppliers. Talent Development: Experience up-skilling junior HE staff. Broader Experience: Other experience beyond Health Economics (e.g., NHS). Therapy Area Experience: Experience in Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolic therapy areas.
