Terms and Conditions apply** The Certified Pharmacy Technician aids pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for all patients including the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescence, adult, and geriatric. Under minimal supervision, this role performs the required duties of a technician at a high level of proficiency, demonstrating exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area. This position also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements: Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required. Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), is required within 6 months of employment Experience REQUIRED: N/A Experience PREFERRED: One year previous pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting Previous experience using a standard keyboard and typing speed of 20-30 words per minute Education/training REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Performs tasks designated by the pharmacist to assist in patient care that do not legally require a pharmacist’s supervision or verification.
