The Senior Accountant, OAS provides leadership and coordination of accounting services to OAS clients, including month-end closing, financial statement preparation and oversight, and onboarding of new OAS clients. This role applies deep knowledge of the full accounting cycle to deliver accurate, timely accounting services.

The Senior Accountant, OAS manages client projects with minimal oversight, mentors junior staff, and serves as a problem solver for both clients and the SNZweig OAS team — identifying root causes of issues and proposing effective solutions.

With strong analytical capability and a trusted advisor mindset, this role builds lasting AEC client relationships and contributes to the OAS practice’s growth through cross-selling awareness and networking.

What you’ll do at SNZweig:

Client Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Manage month-end close activities for assigned clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, and loan accounting.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements using firm and client resources.
  • Review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve financial discrepancies while documenting findings and recommended solutions.
  • Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.
  • Participate in onboarding new OAS clients, helping establish effective accounting processes and working relationships.
  • Identify the root causes of accounting issues and develop practical solutions, escalating matters when appropriate.

Client Relationship Management & Business Development

  • Build trusted relationships with clients through responsive communication, accurate accounting, and timely delivery of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal team members to meet engagement objectives and deliver a high level of client service.
  • Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients and communicate potential cross-selling opportunities to the appropriate internal leaders.
  • Participate in networking activities and industry events that support the growth of the OAS practice.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage client accounting projects independently, maintaining quality, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Train, mentor, and support junior accounting professionals in developing their technical skills and client service capabilities.
  • Share accounting knowledge, provide guidance to colleagues, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Work effectively with internal team members and client personnel to complete engagement responsibilities.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining accuracy, organization, and consistent follow-through.
  • Meet established deadlines, engagement expectations, and billable hour targets.
  • Maintain accurate daily timekeeping and current assignment calendars.
  • Follow firm technology best practices, security protocols, and established operating standards.
