Principal Pricing Analyst.

FULL TIMEREMOTESTAFF LEVEL

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Pricing Analyst based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Pricing Analyst to lead complex pricing initiatives and develop competitive, compliant cost proposals for federal government contracts and strategic business opportunities. In this role, you will combine advanced financial analysis, pricing strategy, and regulatory expertise to support major bids, contract modifications, recompetes, and enterprise task orders. You will work closely with Business Development, Capture, Operations, Contracts, Procurement, and Finance to develop pricing models aligned with technical solutions and operational requirements. Your work will directly influence business decisions, contract profitability, financial risk management, and proposal competitiveness. Operating in a dynamic, globally oriented environment, you will provide pricing insights to senior leadership while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with federal contracting standards. This remote opportunity is suited to a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple high-priority proposals and deliver sound financial recommendations under tight deadlines.

Accountabilities

    • Pricing strategy and proposal development: Lead pricing analyses and cost volume development for enterprise task orders, contract modifications, recompetes, and strategic new business opportunities.

    • Financial modeling: Build, customize, and maintain sophisticated Excel-based pricing models tailored to request-for-proposal evaluation criteria and contract structures, including FFP, CPFF, CPAF, T&M, cost-reimbursable, and IDIQ arrangements.

    • Cost proposal preparation: Develop comprehensive pricing packages, cost narratives, government pricing deliverables, and Basis of Estimate (BOE) documentation that clearly justify proposed pricing methodologies.

    • Regulatory compliance and governance: Ensure pricing analyses and proposals comply with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), DCAA/DCMA audit expectations, Truthful Cost or Pricing Data requirements, and internal policies.

    • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Business Development, Capture, Operations, Contracts, Procurement, and Finance to develop competitive pricing strategies that align with technical solutions, staffing plans, and execution capabilities.

    • Cost and market analysis: Conduct labor rate analyses, competitor pricing assessments, cost realism evaluations, subcontractor pricing reviews, and assessments of teammate pricing, indirect rates, labor categories, and bid assumptions.

    • Pricing intelligence: Use historical pricing data, competitor intelligence, parametric cost modeling, customer knowledge, and operational input to develop informed pricing recommendations.

    • Risk and profitability management: Identify margin sensitivities, escalation variables, currency and tax exposures in challenging operating environments, and risks associated with delivery assumptions.

    • Executive and management support: Participate in capture strategy development, color team reviews, executive reviews, and senior management discussions. Present pricing scenarios, gross margin analyses, risk assessments, and cash flow implications to business leaders.

    • Operational cost validation: Coordinate with Operations to validate proposed staffing levels, labor hours, subcontracting, travel, materials, indirect rates, and margin assumptions for feasibility and accuracy.

    • Quality assurance: Review BOE documentation, subcontractor and teammate inputs, cost volumes, pricing narratives, and compliance matrices. Conduct cross-reviews to help ensure accurate, complete, and compliant proposal submissions.

    • Data security and documentation: Maintain strict control over sensitive, proprietary, and competitive intelligence information, ensuring pricing files and supporting documentation are securely stored in designated enterprise repositories.

    • Continuous support: Provide recommendations to senior leadership on pricing risks, margin impacts, contract structures, and investment decisions, and perform additional duties as assigned.

    • Requirements

      • At least 7 years of experience in federal proposal pricing.

      • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

      • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to develop and maintain dynamic cost models that meet applicable regulatory requirements and internal pricing standards.

      • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

      • Demonstrated experience independently developing and coordinating pricing for large, complex federal cost proposals, task orders, IDIQ vehicles, recompetes, and contract modifications.

      • Experience supporting pricing strategies for large-scale IDIQs, Governmentwide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs), multiple-award contracts (MACs), task order competitions, recompetes, and strategic pursuits.

      • In-depth knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA, DCMA, GAO-related requirements, and other applicable federal government contracting compliance standards.

      • Strong familiarity with Truthful Cost or Pricing Data requirements.

      • Demonstrated experience working with firm-fixed-price (FFP), cost-plus-fixed-fee (CPFF), cost-plus-award-fee (CPAF), time-and-materials (T&M), cost-reimbursable, and IDIQ contract types.

      • Strong understanding of indirect rate structures, cost centers, labor category mapping, cost realism, subcontractor pricing, and cost proposal compliance.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex pricing and financial information into clear recommendations for non-pricing stakeholders.

      • Strong analytical judgment, business acumen, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.

      • Proven ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under aggressive deadlines while maintaining quality and compliance.

      • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments and supporting enterprise-wide business objectives.

      • Benefits

        • Annual salary: $115,000–$150,000, depending on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and geographic location.

        • Remote work: The role is primarily remote within the United States.

        • Hybrid flexibility for the Washington, D.C. area: Candidates based in the D.C. metropolitan area may be required to work at the headquarters office 2–3 days per week.

        • Professional impact: Opportunities to contribute to major federal contracting pursuits, strategic pricing decisions, and complex business initiatives.

        • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams across Business Development, Finance, Contracts, Procurement, and Operations.

        • Additional compensation and benefits: Other compensation or benefits may be offered depending on individual circumstances. Specific details regarding healthcare, retirement plans, paid time off, bonuses, and other perks are not provided in the job description.
