Smile CDR Administrator.

FULL TIMEREMOTE$65–72/HR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Smile CDR Administrator based in the United States.

Join a healthcare technology initiative focused on improving interoperability and enabling secure, seamless data exchange across healthcare systems. As a Smile CDR Administrator, you will oversee the configuration, administration, and operational support of a critical healthcare interoperability platform in a fully remote environment. You will manage multiple platform environments, support FHIR-based APIs, troubleshoot integration challenges, and maintain reliable system performance. Working closely with architecture, engineering, and business teams, you will help deliver scalable solutions that support evolving healthcare data-sharing requirements. Your expertise will contribute to compliance with federal interoperability mandates and initiatives involving patient access, provider access, prior authorization, and payer-to-payer data exchange. This short-term contract offers an opportunity to apply specialized technical knowledge to impactful healthcare integration projects.

Accountabilities

  • Administer and configure Smile CDR: Manage Development, Test, and Production environments, including platform modules, partitions, repositories, channels, security settings, and API configurations.
  • Support healthcare interoperability: Maintain and support FHIR R4 repositories, SMART on FHIR implementations, REST APIs, and integration endpoints to facilitate secure and consistent healthcare data exchange.
  • Monitor platform performance: Track system health, availability, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying issues that could affect reliability or operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues: Investigate and resolve platform errors, API integration failures, data ingestion problems, and performance bottlenecks across production and non-production environments.
  • Support regulatory and interoperability initiatives: Contribute to programs involving CMS and ONC interoperability requirements, including Prior Authorization, Patient Access, Provider Access, Payer-to-Payer, and BCBSA interoperability initiatives.
  • Implement security and compliance controls: Configure access management, authentication, authorization, audit logging, and other safeguards to support data security and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate across technical teams: Partner with architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to implement interoperability solutions, resolve integration challenges, and align platform capabilities with organizational needs.
  • Develop operational documentation: Create and maintain runbooks, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and platform standards to improve consistency and supportability.
  • Coordinate vendor support: Engage external vendors when necessary while strengthening internal ownership, technical knowledge, and ongoing platform management.
  • Maintain operational reliability: Apply sound administration practices and continuous improvement techniques to ensure the platform remains secure, stable, and capable of supporting healthcare data exchange at scale.
  • Requirements

  • Healthcare interoperability experience: At least 5 years of professional experience working with healthcare interoperability, data exchange, or related healthcare technology systems.
  • Smile CDR expertise: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience administering or supporting Smile CDR in enterprise or production environments.
  • FHIR and API proficiency: Strong working knowledge of HL7 FHIR R4, REST APIs, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, JSON, and XML.
  • Healthcare data exchange: Demonstrated experience supporting healthcare integration workflows and exchanging clinical or administrative data across systems.
  • Production platform support: Experience maintaining production healthcare platforms, diagnosing technical incidents, and resolving API integration and performance issues.
  • Database skills: Strong SQL capabilities and a solid understanding of database fundamentals, data structures, and data access patterns.
  • Linux and scripting: Practical experience working with Linux environments and scripting to support administration, troubleshooting, and operational automation.
  • Technical problem-solving: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate complex technical issues independently.
  • Communication and collaboration: Ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, document solutions clearly, and coordinate activities across multiple teams.
  • Preferred regulatory knowledge: Experience with CMS interoperability mandates and related healthcare data-sharing requirements.
  • Additional preferred technologies: Familiarity with Axway API Gateway, Apache Camel, cloud platforms, healthcare payer systems, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and GitLab.
  • Remote work readiness: Ability to manage assigned responsibilities independently, communicate progress effectively, and support a distributed technical team.
  • Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation: Pay range of $65–$72 per hour, depending on location, experience, education, and other relevant factors.
  • Remote flexibility: Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.
  • Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) retirement account.
  • Paid leave: Eligibility for paid sick leave and other paid time off as required by applicable law.
  • Specialized technical experience: Opportunity to work with Smile CDR, FHIR-based interoperability, and enterprise healthcare integration platforms.
  • Meaningful healthcare impact: Contribute to initiatives that improve secure data exchange and support patient, provider, and payer access to healthcare information.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with architecture, engineering, and business teams on complex interoperability projects.
