Sr Systems Engineer.

FULL TIMEREMOTESENIOR LEVELDEVOPS & INFRA

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Systems Engineer based in India.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, scalability, and reliability of a modern healthcare technology platform. In this role, you will take ownership of Kubernetes infrastructure, cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies. You will drive platform standardization, automation, security, and operational excellence while ensuring high availability and performance across critical healthcare applications. Working closely with development, security, and leadership teams, you will shape the platform roadmap and implement scalable engineering solutions. You will also champion cloud cost optimization, compliance, and disaster recovery while establishing best practices across infrastructure operations. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with engineering leadership and mentoring in a mission-driven, highly regulated technology environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Kubernetes Platform Architecture: Design, implement, and continuously improve Kubernetes platform architecture for healthcare applications, including cluster management, upgrades, scalability, and standardized configurations across multiple environments.
  • Deployment Standardization: Establish and maintain consistent deployment practices using Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux to enable reliable, repeatable, and automated application deployments.
  • CI/CD Engineering: Architect and manage enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines with integrated security scanning, automated quality checks, release governance, and deployment controls.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Lead the Infrastructure as Code strategy by developing reusable Terraform modules, implementing configuration management practices, and introducing policy-as-code solutions to improve infrastructure consistency and automation.
  • Reliability and Observability: Define and implement observability standards, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), monitoring, and alerting strategies. Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews to improve platform reliability.
  • Security and Compliance: Drive infrastructure security and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA requirements, audit readiness, secrets management, role-based access control (RBAC), network policies, and container image hardening.
  • Cloud Cost Optimization: Own cloud financial management (FinOps) initiatives by implementing resource rightsizing, autoscaling, reserved capacity strategies, and cost monitoring to achieve measurable infrastructure savings.
  • Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Design, implement, and regularly test disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high-availability strategies to minimize service disruptions.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentoring: Mentor engineering team members, conduct architecture and code reviews, establish technical standards, and create documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing resources.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with development, security, and leadership teams to define platform requirements, influence technical decisions, and establish a long-term infrastructure roadmap.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure automation, developer self-service capabilities, deployment efficiency, operational performance, and overall platform maturity.
  • Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience managing and operating Kubernetes environments in production.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes administration, preferably with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon EKS, or OpenShift.
  • Strong experience with Docker, Helm, and Kustomize for containerization and application deployment management.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
  • Advanced Terraform expertise, including reusable module development, infrastructure state management, and automation practices.
  • Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly cloud networking, identity management, security, and cost optimization. Multi-cloud experience is an advantage.
  • Practical experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, or ELK Stack.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead production incident management, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, conduct root cause analysis, and deliver measurable reliability improvements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, infrastructure governance, high availability, disaster recovery, and scalable system architecture.
  • Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments, with knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2 compliance requirements, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with GitOps practices, service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd, and policy engines such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.
  • Knowledge of FinOps methodologies and cloud cost management tools such as Kubecost and Azure Cost Management.
  • Relevant professional certifications are advantageous, including Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on system reliability and operational excellence.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, security, and business teams.
  • Proven mentoring and technical leadership capabilities, including the ability to establish standards and guide engineering teams toward best practices.
  • Benefits:

  • Work arrangement: Remote opportunity based in India.
  • Employment type: Full-time position.
  • Technical ownership: Opportunity to lead and influence the architecture of a critical healthcare technology platform.
  • Career development: Exposure to advanced Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, DevOps automation, and enterprise platform engineering.
  • Leadership opportunities: Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical strategy, and establish engineering standards.
  • Meaningful impact: Contribute to technology solutions that support healthcare professionals and improve patient care.
  • Innovation-driven environment: Work with modern cloud-native technologies, automation frameworks, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Professional growth: Opportunity to strengthen expertise in cloud security, compliance, reliability engineering, and FinOps.
  • Collaborative culture: Work alongside cross-functional engineering, development, security, and leadership teams.
