Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable (AP) & Corporate Accounting.

FULL TIMEREMOTEFINANCE & LEGAL$70K–82K/YR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable (AP) & Corporate Accounting based in Canada.

Join a mission-driven organization transforming healthcare through innovative technology and proactive medical screening. In this role, you will support corporate accounting operations, month-end close activities, and a high-volume accounts payable environment. You will take ownership of reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting schedules while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting practices. Working closely with Accounts Payable, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and other stakeholders, you will help maintain reliable financial records across business operations. You will also contribute to improving accounting processes, strengthening financial controls, and enhancing operational efficiency. This remote-friendly opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys independent responsibility, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

  • Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts accurately and within established month-end close deadlines.
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies and reconciling items, resolve routine issues independently, and escalate complex or judgment-based matters when necessary.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, supporting schedules, and account analyses to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support accounts payable cutoff, completeness reviews, and period-end accounting activities, including the investigation of outstanding or unusual transactions.
  • Review vendor invoices, corporate card transactions, and employee reimbursements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment, expense coding, and entity allocation.
  • Support corporate card, reimbursement, and bill payment processes while collaborating with Accounts Payable colleagues to resolve operational exceptions.
  • Assist with purchase order and procure-to-pay workflows, including invoice coding, entity selection, purchase order discrepancies, accrual inputs, and period-end treatment.
  • Prepare variance explanations and audit-ready documentation, and respond to external audit requests as required.
  • Maintain accounting procedures and supporting documentation while identifying opportunities to improve reconciliation quality, financial accuracy, and close efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, Accounts Payable, and business stakeholders in a distributed working environment.
  • Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Between 2 and 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with hands-on involvement in month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, general ledger processes, and period-end accounting requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, with the ability to analyze financial information and investigate discrepancies.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through, with the ability to manage routine accounting responsibilities independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across remote teams.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment, take ownership of assigned tasks, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Additional experience considered an asset:

  • Experience with Ramp or comparable corporate card, expense management, accounts payable, or procure-to-pay platforms.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency accounting and high-volume accounts payable or expense accounting.
  • Familiarity with purchase order processes, procurement workflows, and financial systems.
  • Experience supporting external audits, accounting process improvements, or finance systems implementations.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, technology, high-growth organizations, or multi-location businesses.
  • Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: Annual base salary of $70,000–$82,000 USD, depending on experience and geographic location. Compensation eligibility and applicable terms should be confirmed for the position's Canadian location.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits, including mental health support.
  • Preventive healthcare: Complimentary whole-body scans for eligible team members.
  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan for eligible employees. The plan currently does not include employer matching contributions; Canadian retirement benefits should be confirmed based on employment location.
  • Flexible time off: Flexible vacation policy that encourages employees to take time away to rest and recharge.
  • Professional growth: Opportunities for continuous learning, career development, and expanding your responsibilities as the organization grows.
  • Collaborative culture: Regular team gatherings that encourage connection, knowledge sharing, and relationship building.
  • Meaningful impact: The opportunity to contribute to a proactive healthcare mission focused on improving patient experiences and supporting earlier health insights.
  • Remote work environment: The opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a distributed workplace.
